if not us...who? UC Santa Barbara is around 21 in the polls..we are 6 RPI wise they are 10 and we are 13.
We have a good national reputation. Would the committee shun the entire west coast from the national seeds? Quite possibly, but let's get to the championship game of the P12 tourney and see what happens

There isn't really a good reason to keep us out unless they decide on full ACC/SEC tourney.

Based on the last 5 years in college athletics I would say power whores will probably do their best to keep piling gold in the dragon pit.

I saw a story where there is talk about the SEC getting 3 guaranteed spots every season.

I saw a story where there is talk about the SEC getting 3 guaranteed spots every season. Yup, no one with a meaningful stake in college athletics profit is trying to save anything about the sports. They are milking the cow to death for every cent they can. The model is about consolidating control to a smaller crazier fan base that are willing to spend far more on engagement. The healthier model for sports would be a wide diverse fan base but that's far harder to control or profit on. Think of it this way. Cost of a hot dog at a baseball game probably varies between $3 and $18 bucks depending on the location and demand. The powers at be want everyone to pay $22 for a hot dog. So instead of making a hot dog worth $22 they shrink the market, jack the prices and get a monopoly so no one can do anything when it's $35 for a hotdog. College athletics is going straight into the same model as movie theaters where they think they have a captive audience with no recourse. Well they have now learned that we do have recourse and theaters are doing absolutely terrible. Often they blame the pandemic but why the hell would I go to the theater to see 1 movie for the same price as a month of streaming service. Then gos forbid you are.l thirsty or want a snack, I wasn't paying attention last time I went and a 16 oz bottle of water was $8. College Athletics and theaters could create a healthier market for themselves by lowering prices and getting more engagement, specially from young families. Instead they are trying to get boomers to spend all their money on luxury feature like 'seats' for 20k a season.

May be me being dramatic, but I think we will have to win the tournament to get a top 8 seed. Even then, I don't think its neccesarily a guarantee. Yes, we have a great RPI and the reputation of a top notch program with 3 titles to our name, but even still the SEC and ACC always get preference when it comes to these kinds of things.
We shall see.

I think we'll end up in the 10 to 12 range, but possibly we sneak into the 8 spot.

The problem is: it takes hundreds of thousands (millions?) of fans willing to dish over the big $$$$.

Eventually they will exclude or disenfranchise so many people that it will just be a prep league for the NFL with a tiny amount of relevant teams. They dont care.

If we don't get a top 8 seed it's because we didn't win the regular season conf championship, and we got swept at Cal, and USC...we win a couple of those games, and sweep zona, our RPI is a few ticks higher...sucks that we couldn't make up the USC game.
Every game matters......but not sure the conf tourney matters much. Other than the winner gets an auto berth.

As long as we do pretty well in the conference tourney, I don’t see how we don’t compete for a national seed. It’s going to be close, I get that. But if you look at other competitors for a national seed, we certainly are right there with qualifications. We have a better overall record and conference record than teams like Georgia and FSU.
We got screwed by not getting a third game at USC, but we can’t control that. Fortunately, the committee should be able to see that we beat Arizona and Oregon, and if we win that third game against USC, we win the conference. After getting destroyed two of three games on their home turf, Arizona won the pac 12 by default.
I’m not saying we “should” get a national seed, we need to show up and win at least two games in the conference tourney, but if you look at the other teams competing for that 7/8 spot, our resume stacks up with them.

D1 Baseball Nerdcast podcast putting together their forecast for the seeds that they'll post soon....
- Includes Beavs in the National Seed consideration - Put Beavs at #10 - "Haven't played enough good teams"... 3-3 vs Quad 1, 7-7 vs Quad 2 - League down hurting them unfortunately with the Quad 1 only 6 games and think that not winning Pac-12 will hurt them in this consideration - 13 RPI impressive given Pac-12 being down - Kept repeating "didn't win league" so not putting them in top 8....seems like that might be final straw - maybe Pac12 tourney win puts in back in
