Man you'd think after the reaction to yesterday's loss we'd have dropped out of the top 25

I think the manner in which we lost is what is troubling. We were very close to being no-hit by holes Sunday guy.

I think it's more about how we lost than the fact that we lost. The loss amplified a growing concern that the top half of the batting order has been silenced and the players on the field are making untimely errors. These are concerning troubles to have.

In all sports. Much more activity and negativity. It has become very easy to ascertain what is going on in any sport by visiting Benny's House. I just look though the thread. If I see a few posts from rafer, I assume the game(in any sport), is not going OSU's way. No rafer post...OSU must be winning.

With the series won, looking back, it wasn't too far off from being lost with how the offense performed. Its a good thing May and Kmatz pitched their best of the season, and Holmes found his strive. Otherwise a mere "good" outing from both starters may have resulted in losing the series.

Later innings I commented to wife that when you have more errors (3) than, hits, or runs, combined, you're not winning many games....that's just ugly. I get that sometimes going into a Sunday already winning the series, you are going to come out flat. It's hard to sweep any conf opponent. But our guys were reeeally flat, and the lack of competitive AB's seems to be contagious right now. Im not panicking yet, but the tendency for this lineup to be feast, or famine, is not conducive to a deep post season run.....especially when our staff is inconsistent, and we make errors at a relatively high rate. None of that screams Omaha to me, unless we get extremely lucky.

I think the manner in which we lost is what is troubling. We were very close to being no-hit by holes Sunday guy. Since conference play started, Kevin Seitter has had one bad outing, last week at Sunken Diamond. Seitter one-hit USC (another home run) in his last game in Oregon. Seitter is 5-3. The other two losses, besides the loss at Sunken Diamond, were games in which he gave up two earned runs: 1 15-4 loss to Arizona, in which the bullpen imploded and a 4-2 loss to USC. Oregon has the third-lowest ERA and WHIP in conference play behind Arizona and Oregon State in ERA and Oregon State and Arizona in WHIP. Perhaps, it gives me pause about that series in Tucson, but Oregon is a great pitching team.

Parker said that Guerra is something like 0 for his last 21 and 7 of his last 53. That and Bazzana/Turley seem to be in mini-slumps themselves is definitely concerning. Bazz's average has dropped 30-40 points over the last two weeks even though he does have a couple of HRs to show for it. Good news is Kasper is starting to get his timing back and square up some balls again. 3 weeks+Pac-12 tourney for those guys to get right, hopefully UCLA/WSU provide that chance.

Kendall Rogers today on the Top-8 National seeds:
"Five national seeds seem to be set in stone"
We still have three weeks left to the regular season, yet, five national seeds seem to be pretty sure bets with Texas A&M, Arkansas, Kentucky, Clemson and Tennessee leading the way. Florida State and East Carolina are two other teams I feel pretty good about barring a collapse down the stretch. We’re approaching a situation where there will be little, if any, drama in terms of the top eight on Selection Monday, while there is some intense jockeying for positioning when it comes to the other Top 16 regional hosts.

Unfortunately, the polls mean nothing when it comes to determining host sites and national seeds. Our RPI is still 12th, and with double digit losses plus an overall pretty weak perceived SOS we're up against it in terms of locking down a top seed. Not impossible, but without doing the Wilky math, Beavs probably need to finish conference play 8-1 or 7-2 at worst and then have a strong showing in the conference tournament to sniff a host spot unless we get help from teams above us.
