I have some grace for TvO in all this, as she was the one who showed the loyalty originally that allowed this Elite Eight run to even happen. I don't understand why she didn't want to run it back her senior year like other competitive players, but I also don't know her full reasons, and she did put in 3+ years at OSU. When Raegan said this year would not have happened without TvO, it feels like the response to Tvo leaving by the rest of the starters was, whelp, we aren't able to lead this team back without her, so might as well go somewhere with that leadership in place. The reality is, championship teams always have great leaders on the court, not just great coaches (and sometimes not even good coaches, if the player leadership is good enough). Rueck has been excellent at bringing in and developing leaders on the court. Did nobody feel like they could step up into that role with TvO leaving? I'm at a loss for sure at what went through their minds, I definitely struggle to relate to their departuers with how I felt in my playing days. I do relate to AJ's response though, even as bleak as it all looks for her at this point. TVO did say, I think, that AJ was the unsung and unrecognized player of the team. Perhaps it is now AJs time. I’m rooting for her!

The best news about this is it likely means Rueck is sticking around. It doesn't make much sense for AJ to go public in this way if she knows Rueck is leaving. Rueck may still leave, but this is at least evidence to me that AJ doesn't know or think this is the case. What makes you think that? What if Rueck decides to leave due to his health issues, and AJ is just sticking around for the new coach. The picture makes sense either way, doesn't it?

Personally, I like OSU women’s basketball. I don’t care if the 5 who stayed become our starting 5. I’ll still get reserve seats (and probably be able to upgrade them). I’ll still attend every game I can including the Maui trip if it happens.

I'm only speaking to Rueck leaving for another job; seems he wouldn't want her announcement directly linked towards her clearly caring sentiment towards Rueck if she knew he was taking another job.

SR will likely not leave - on one hand, he might truly believe those things about school loyalty and family first that we are a bit jaded on at this present moment. Even if you take a cynical view, he has probably earned himself a couple of years grace with all the situations at hand, few of his own making (we hope, though if you ARE taking a cynical view, the Exodus of Biblical proportions was a result of his coaching style etc). So you make really good bank for a few more years in Corvallis even if you have some "down" years......and he's too good of an X's and O's guy to stay down long. Yes, he could monetize recent success, but not sure he upgrades his situation much or lowers stress in the process. And I actually wouldn't be surprised if we are fairly competitive sooner rather than later - *something* attracted the departed Elite 8 to Corvallis, and many of those reasons persist.
Go Beavers!

Shuler sticking around is really big. You have an experienced point guard to start building around. Good on Marotte as well. Not going to pretend the situation isn't dire but their loyalty is meaningful.

Heard it before from others..so fool me once.... Same. I’m so f%#*ing jaded at this point it’s hard to feel anything at this point. One would expect that, of 13 people, at least one would do things right and honor her commitment to the university that made a commitment to her. I'm not at all surprised it was AJ. I've heard her say a couple of times, including after the previous diaspora, that she loves it here and couldn't imagine going elsewhere. Her senior season may well be a horror show, but I admire the class and maturity she is displaying. But, while I am loth to seem like I'm painting her with the same brush as the others, I have to judge the entirety by the majority, and 62% of have demonstrated to me that it is not about team, not about teammates, and certainly not about potential alma mater. For whatever reason, it is all about me, and nothing else. That is a truism throughout women's college basketball, where a number approaching 33.3% of those with eligibility left are opting to move on. The game as a whole is not deserving of support, but, if our players had shown themselves to be above this, I would still support the OSU team completely and wholeheartedly. Sadly, of 349 D1 programs, the OSU team ranks 349th on the list of those doing things right. They have totally destroyed one of the nation's great programs, and ensured that it will never again be a factor. And, since we have no freshmen coming in, any players that Scott adds will be the same as those who are leaving - student mercenaries. So my days of purchasing season tickets, joining Rebounders, and attending dinners are over. But, if for some unforeseen reason, I were to attend the commencement ceremony in 2025, I'd stand and cheer long and loud when they announced the name of A J Marotte.

Glove: I’m going to ask you to reconsider the level that you are planning on withdrawing your support for OSU women’s basketball. This IS a catastrophic display of selfishness and/or greed, but it’s not fair to take away your support from those who have stepped up to honor their commitment to OSU (no matter how few they may be). I’ve been going through the gamut of shock, anger, disappointment, etc. As much as I feel duped by those who left for reasons other than playing time or graduate transfer, I can’t give up on those who chose to stay. Hesitant, reluctant, paranoid and excited to see us dig ourselves out of this mess are going to be emulsifying inside. I can’t wait to hear the crowd when they call out the five who stayed! I don’t want to miss that!

Not about AJ, but then we've veered off that pretty much already. How much was Suzanna able to participate as a red-shirt, did she benefit from being around practices, trainers, etc. ? Watching her play at the JC , she was at times a good 3 point shooter, but not particularly fast or athletic as I remember.
