Tough day to be a Beaver Fan. Regroup and move forward.

I got a response on social media from AJ that makes me think she is hanging with us longer, no guarantee, but odds are..
Now I will wait to see who they bring in. Sad day indeed.

Soon you’ll have to cross Doms name off that list.

Soon you’ll have to cross Doms name off that list. That’s a tough loss, but also hard to blame her. She would’ve been an excellent WCC player.

Even without Dom, that's not a bad starting point. Hope they all stay.

Even without Dom, that's not a bad starting point. Hope they all stay. Those are all backup type kids except Dom and maybe AJ/Rees

Who will win more games next season, Rurek or WT? Obviously Rurek has a much stronger resume. But both rosters have to be rebuilt from close to scratch and will be playing in a new conference.

Well, at 60+ my skills have deteriorated but, I "identify" as a college wbb/mbb player. I could help either team in a pinch if I can get a Sr rate on a Covid year!

Well it appears to be over according to a tweet from the Portland Tribune - so now we can talk rebuilding…
We need at least probably eight additions to the roster. That’s an insanely tall task for someone like Rueck who generally doesn’t love using the transfer portal and hasn’t had a ton of success bringing in talent via the portal (though Slocum and, to a lesser extent, Mack were relatively big gets). He’ll have to adjust quickly. I assume they’ll look at JUCO and late additions for the 2024 class (mostly international).
I worry that instead of portal players thinking “this is a really good staff” they’ll think “yikes this team just lost almost their whole roster and probably 85% of their scoring.” Would hard to expect them to do otherwise.
The staff has a very tall task ahead to bring in some quality players to put together a roster to contend in the WCC. Aside from Gonzaga, WSU, and maybe Portland, I think the WCC will be pretty weak.

If Heide can double her minutes, she and Rees could do well in the paint, so we still have some of that inside-out that SR likes. Sela's height is hard to cope with, and Rees has shown range out to the arc. I thought KS could have had more minutes even this year.... AJ needs to find some consistency with that midrange jumper, and finish layups better, but she might be able to become a more reliable scoring option. Interested to see what Yepes brings to the party - plenty of minutes available to find out. If we can find 5+ more players via portal or juco, plus 1-2 HS players (if any reasonable ones are left), we could still field a competitive team and have an interesting season. And the minutes and coaching are there for portal players.....
I started following WBB because of SR's well coached teams - unlike those departing 6-7 players, I don't expect that hallmark of his teams to disappear over night, especially with the nucleus he still has to work with.
Go Beavers!

Using “tall task” and Rueck in the same sentence made me laugh.
