I'll understand if people don't want to talk about this, but I can't stop thinking about it, so here goes:
Is there any reason to be optimistic about our players after the end of this season? Should we be bracing ourselves for a mass transfer portal exodus? Or should our independent status (and hopefully, a robust 2025 schedule) give us hope that we can avoid the fate that has befallen WBB, MBB, and football? What are people hearing? What are people thinking?

I suspect next year's schedule or at minimum, an outline of it will be a priority subject for Scott Barnes and Mitch Canham to discuss with current players and recruits at some point soon.
overcoming the sting of the PAC-12 breakup can best be served by an exciting independent schedule for 2025.

Canham already has a hard pencil schedule for next year....and I'm sure he's shared with his players and incoming recruits.
The strong 2024 class suggests that they didn't hate it...
Also Pac-12 being dogs%#t this year and likely only getting 3 teams (maybe 4?) in the tourney doesn't hurt the argument too much either...

There are few people concerned, but IMO because baseball is so much different than basketball and football, there isn't expected to be the mass exodus. National pundits have also said OSU isn't likely to see a major impact with the shakeup of the Pac-12 with it's national power status. I'm one to believe it could actually help OSU, in that players from other PAC12 schools to the Big 10 would prefer not to play in a weak conference that travels a lot. Cal and Stanford play in a better conference, but they travel even more. I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up some transfers from those 6 schools. WSU is a different story.

Yea, I like this line of thinking. I'd imagine the the other Cali schools in the WCC and Big West will benefit as well

Just look at the current roster. There is going to a mass exodus from all the seniors and probable drafted juniors.

Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State, and Utah are in at this moment. Definitely not five, though, unless someone makes a run or just kills it int he Pac-12 Tournament. Still a lot of baseball left, though.

I think we may be get 3. I would also not cross USC out or at least mark them down for a run. They are 11 for 15 in their current steak and have big tests with a game against UCI and at UO. If they can win 3 of those they will really be cooking with gas and over 500. Stank is a very good coach.

What are people thinking? I'm not super worried about the possibility of loing players to the portal after this season. However, I'm not blind to the fact that we have a couple players that could go anywhere in the country if they wanted to (ie. Caraway, Turley, Palmer, Segura, Keljo). I feel strongly that we have a lot coming back next year and hopefully we are doing everything necesarry to keep the star power in Corvallis.

Don't forget the huge factor, money! Some of these guys can start cashing in now! However, Beaver Baseball is likely still going to be the one of the best places on the West Coast to learn and develop baseball skills.

Kinda tough to pencil in a schedule other than tourney invites since NO conferences have set any schedules yet.
