Man that was ugly....missed Micah. Bats were quiet. How many hit batters? That first hit batter in the the 9th leaned into that pitch. Should have been brought back but bottom line we didn't perform. |

For some reason they lost all plate discipline tonight. Never saw so many big long swings batter after batter and plate appearance after plate appearance. They made the trojan pitching staff look pretty damn tough. WTF was Bazzana thinking getting so far off 1st with a 3-0 count?  ? |

Well pitched game by USC. Beavers pitched well with May and Keljo. USC just played a little better game.

This Millenium, Oregon State has only dropped two games outside of the State of Oregon on March 28th. 2013 was the first and 2024 was the second. Oregon State was 21-2 entering both games and walked off the field both times 21-3. Frank Pflugradt was an infield umpire in both games. Both games featured a solo shot by Oregon State's six-hitter and the other team only hit one home run.
The reason for the loss in 2013 was the worst defensive performance by any Oregon State baseball team since 2011, five errors leading to five unearned runs.
In 2013, Oregon State responded to win the game on Good Friday but dropped the rubber game on Holy Saturday to lose the series. The Beavers would only lose one more series en route to the College World Series.

Many factors involved with this loss
1. PAC-12 Conference series on the road.
2. May on an abbreviated pitch count shorting his start by probably 2 innings.
3. Team suffered from ADDS at times.
4. Need Kasper in the DH hole.
5. Needed McDowell's bat tonight.
6. Caraway's bat is missed.
7. 6 K's from 3 and 4 hole and 4 more from 8 and 9.

Well pitched game by USC. Beavers pitched well with May and Keljo. USC just played a little better game. Yeah when you put (10) guys on for free and only give up (2) runs one might feel "lucky good". But, couple that with (13) "unimportant" Ks, only (4) hits, and numerous other mistakes... (1) run scored sort of cancels that! |

I know I’m a broken record here but it's very apparent the flow of this lineup is different without McDowell, Caraway, Kasper. It changes the whole dynamic of the lineup. We have depth off the bench but when certain guys aren’t protected the holes start to show. Obviously having May limited right now hurts as well but this lineup can be picked apart and without those 3 guys it’s not as potent of an offense. Can’t rely on Bazzana going nuclear every game.

Not having three big bats available has not cost us yet, until tonight. I thought Bazana beat the throw back to first, that was a killer. Having our Friday night guy back and effective is great news for us down the road. If I remember correctly, in 2017 when we went 26-4 in league play we lost a game to USC that we felt like we shouldn't have. It happens, hope the bats come out smacking it tomorrow.
