Four of the teams that eliminated the top 5 Pac-12 teams went to the final 4. South Carolina (OSU); UConn (USC). NC State (Stanford). Iowa (Colorado). UCLA was eliminated by LSU, the 2023 national runner-up. Our teams lost to great teams. We're gonna disagree, no big deal. Not only, let's add the renewal of the "Gottlieb attacks". Dissed (pretty sure some were this same poster??) on at Cal, when she was hired at SC, last year into this, then all quiet as they got better and better. Then wait until they lose, in the E8. Of course to one, if not the best coach in wbb history, with arguably one of the top 5 best, experienced individual players despite just returning from injury. And, Edwards a tremendous big surrounded by 5* recruits that are tenacious defenders. I had to look up how crappy Coach Gottleib is: '08-11 UCSB 56-39/36-12 1 NCAA 1 NIT in 3 yrs '11-'19 Cal 179-89/86-58 7 NCAA’s in 8 yrs 1 F4 '21-24 USC 62-32/29-24 2 NCAA’s in 3 yrs -50 wins in yrs 2/3 after taking over a program falling apart. 294-160 (.648) in 14 seasons with 10 NCAA’s What a piece of crap! PS- Coach Rueck 297-154 (.659) in 14 seasons with 8 NCAA’s She’s a very solid coach - who was also fortunate to inherit very good talent at Cal and USC. While USC was “falling apart” she inherited a roster with three McDonald’s All Americans plus a future Pac-12 POY. I’d have to look at the specifics of her tenure at Cal, but I’m pretty sure she inherited a really good recruiting class/roster from Boyle, took them to the Final Four, and then was on a pretty downward trend since, and then left when her recruits started finishing in the lower middle/bottom half of the Pac-12 and there was not much left. I’d also add that regardless of how good of a roster she inherited, taking a team to a Final Four is really impressive. USC is one of those schools that IMO recruits itself (look at the talent Trakh brought in vs. results), so she should be able to consistently have really talented rosters and compete for final fours frequently. Regardless of whether or not on thinks she’s a good coach, she’s done a very good job at USC this far.

Gottlieb excels in one thing: hitching her wagon to a star. She was great at Cal when she had Anigwe, and she's great at USC with Juju. But there is no evidence that she can take a group of 4-stars and get anything more than 3-star results.

She doesn’t have a group of 4-stars this season, thus a result better than 3-stars. Also, she was not great at Cal with Anigwe. Zero top-4 finishes and never made it past the first weekend of the tournament. She was excellent with Boyd and Gray, both Boyle recruits.

Some have nothing to do but disparage other successful people. Of course they are typical not OSU related! Of course it takes no skill to inherit any type of roster and impart your system and style. Then have success. It's all on the previous coach. And of course she should have turned down those "easy" jobs! Plus, you know Cal and USC are such easy academic institutions to recruit to!

I don't watch games as much these days but follow on social media and watch highlights. This morning I caught the Iowa/LSU recap. I couldn't believe how many points Iowa scored on full court in bound fast breaks. The LSU coach might not be very detailed in approach 😉

My attitude is - it is always a good day when LSU loses, no matter the sport. Last year, one of the LSU players taunted one of the Iowa players after they lost. She did not return the favor this year. Good for Iowa!

SC is pulling away from NC State. Up by 19 near the end of the 3rd. My eyes may be deceiving me, but I think it might be an all Pac=12 reffing crew.

Didn't feel up to watching. 1 point game at halftime, 29-6 South Carolina in Q3. Holy cow! Beavs didn't give up any extended runs like that, and were down by 14 at the most IIRC.

You have corrected me about this in the past and I now better understand how referees are “assigned” to games. I think what bmoc was trying to say is that the 3 referees for this game are familiar and have refereed many PAC 12 games.

The Pac-12 hired officials (mostly the same ones) season to season, so while officials are independent contractors they were also Pac-12 refs for all practical purposes.

I have a friend who is an official. He does Pac12, MWC, WCC and other conference games. There are no Pac12 officials. There are only Pac12 officials for football.

So if a handful of officials work all the Pac 12 games, we can't call them Pac 12 officials because Judge Smalls say so. Cool.
