TVO: "(The decision is) deeply personal and some of y'all don't know as much as you think you do." Bendu Yeaney on the OSU transfers: "It's a lot more complicated than fans really know." Most OSU WBB fans: "We don't care anymore. Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Talia went to SC for one reason and one reason only. Her boyfriend plays football there. FWIW, a friend of mine was chatting with TVO's grandmother at the Pac-12 tourney and she said that relationship was over. No idea if it's the truth or maybe has been rekindled since. As a grandparent myself, we're not always included in the loop.

It will be interesting to see how many of those "OSU WBB fans" actually show up for games next season.

I think the five returning players, and next year's team, have the chance to be some of the most popular players and one of the most popular teams in school history.

We just had one of the most popular teams in school history. IF next year's team turns out to be really good, then fans will rally around it. If not, the crowds will peter out.

I don't think being good will have anything to do with it. The players will be popular because they stayed, or because they committed to the program when it was hurting.
I don't think the 2023-24 team, or many of the players on that team, rank very high on the popularity scale at this point.

I agree, people loved this team until they transferred. It will be hard to be more exciting then this year or the Final Four team just because they're "loyal". And The "most fans don't care" or say don't let the door hit them is also false in my opinion (I know it wasn't you who said that). Maybe "most" fans on this board, but everyone I have talked to still wish the ex players luck with whatever they do. Doesn't mean they will root for them actively, but also don't seem to have such angst against them. All my friends and family, and "most" people I know or read posts on other chat sites, still care very much. Being disappointed and hating on college students are two very different things to me. We won't get as many fans next year of course, but there will still be plenty of butts in seats come november. My two cents, but who knows?

Good Gawd, can we just stop with the "hating on them" crap? There is a big difference between not pulling for them to succeed after they bailed on us, and "hating" someone.

Where's the hate? I don't think anyone on here is showing "hate.". That's a strong word to throw around.
I'm just not going to follow them anymore because they are not Beavers.

I don't know...I might watch part of a Texas Tech game to see how Adlee is doing. Right now, I think it would just aggravate me to watch Beers in another uni. I might watch USC or UCLA just randomly but not specifically to see TVO or Timea. I'm not going to willfully ignore any former OSU player and not watch a game that might interest me but I don't "root" for any former players (Adlee might be an exception because I agreed with her decision to leave under the circumstances).

Choosing to ignore or not care about someone is completely different than "hate." They made their choice. They have moved on. It's not "hate" when fans chose to do the same thing.

It’s very condescending to expect me to be “happy for them.” They crapped all over the school my sons graduated from, where my dad worked for eighteen years, and where I’ve spent ahelluva lot of hard earned cash to support. Nope. Not happy.

This year's transfers had a lot working against these departing players in terms of the emotions invoked, particularly in that it feels like they are piling on to OSU's conference plight, which feels particularly unfair for them to do given that it seemed their primary goals could remain intact. I'm surprised we haven't even seen them stay a bit together in transferring, which we saw happen with Duke in the past.
If OSU WBB bounces back and remains relevant, I imagine fans will look on them more kindly than they do now. If OSU WBB settles into mediocrity, then they will forever be tied to, and being blamed in part for, its demise. Contrast that to by far the two best players on the men's side transferring, hardly anybody cares because the demise was already long in place and the transfers were fully expected.
