several notable programs with 5 or more players entering the portal: Clemson, Kentucky, Oklahoma State. Wait, I thought everyone wanted to play at the highest level! These are all P4 programs, why would anyone leave?

I appreciate what you're saying. I really do. At the end of the day these student athletes are more athlete, than student. They are not truly tied to a University more than it's a means to an end.......they are mercenaries looking purely for what is in their best interest....."it's a business." I guess the part of it that's hard for me, is the social media aspect. The lack of substance in what is being pushed out there. The "Americas team" "family" stuff. I guess for me, and I'm assuming much of Beaver Nation, these are not things to be casually thrown around...... especially given our precarious situation with the Pac 12 falling apart. The actions don't match the words....again, this "selfie" generation is very self absorbed. More so than previous generations. What I'm learning is to be jaded when any coach, or athlete says anything about loyalty, family, etc.....its all "coach speak" and means nothing from most of them. There are a few exceptions. My point with TVO is her attitude on the way out, and the fact she was a veteran leader, leads me to believe she had a lot of influence over the other players decisions. Oddly enough, I think Rueck might have been the catalyst, though I'm not sure that was his intention. Reason being the way he was talking at the end of the season and the fact that he did interview with other schools. Exactly where did he interview?

I should have said it has been reported, not implying that it is a known fact. Angie Machado said she heard/was told that he interviewed with other schools. I was the one that posted that in the first place. I don't know any details but I'm going to go ahead and say that it's highly likely Machado got the info from a reliable source.

Yeah, TVO isn't going to be running the offense at USC. The ball will primarily be in Watkins' hands. Will be interesting to see how much they utilize Iriafen. As one of the most dominant players in the paint in the Pac this year I am sure the ball will touch Kiki's hands damn near every play. May be just for a second to kick it out to Juju but Kiki will be a huge part of that offense.

My problem is I really want USC to suck ass next year. Does that make me a bad person? I already wanted them to before this maybe I can go with that to be free of guilt.

several notable programs with 5 or more players entering the portal: Clemson, Kentucky, Oklahoma State. Wait, I thought everyone wanted to play at the highest level! These are all P4 programs, why would anyone leave? Let's look at the math. There are 349 D1 schools. If they average 14 scholarship players per school (I'm guessing at that), there would be 4,886 total players. In normal years, it would be a fairly good assumption that 25% would have used up their eligibility this year. With the covid year, however, we'll use 20%. That would be 977 players, leaving 3,909 who played this year who can play again next year. Of those 3,909, as of this morning, 1,331 had entered the portal. That's 34% of all the returning players - more than 1 in 3 ! And, if memory serves, that number is not much different than what happened the last 2 years with the portal. Mathematically, then, over a 3 year cycle, the overwhelming majority will transfer once, and a good number twice. Talking about possible local reasons for this mess is not going to the root of it. There is an entire generation of kids who have ZERO sense of loyalty to any program or school from one day to the next, and the NCAA has willingly allowed them to destroy their product. You can argue, if you wish, that the above is not an absolute, and point to players like Caitlin Clark who spend all 4 years at one school - and those do exist. But I will point to 1,331 who didn't do so this year, and well over 1,000 each of the last 2 years. The system is irredeemably broken, and nothing that I see is going to fix it. Raegan Beers glories in being a Sooner in April of 2024, just as she gloried in being a Beaver in April of 2022. We'll see what she glories in come late April, 2025.

It's definitely cultural/generational thing......which explains why our entire elite 8 team decided staying together to play in the WCC, and having a GREAT shot at an even deeper post season run, was not valued as much as playing in a P4 conf. These kids are more driven by social media likes. They get that by being in a higher profile conference.....the long play would be to stick out what they have, and see where it goes.....instead, throw away society, and instant gratification come to mind.

Found out today that Lucy Olsen got 600k to go to Iowa. The world we live in, is not what it was even a year ago. Lucy is a stud, she’s not Caitlin Clark but who is. Iowa isn’t willing to be left behind so they threw huge money at the best scoring guard available. Reagan is likely getting minimum 250k at Oklahoma, I’m guessing more. The true stars are getting paid. I know there are those on here that will call BS. That’s fine, just know that I’m not making the number Lucy got up.

Colorado lost another to the portal, Tameiya Sadler. Looked like a stud her Fr. year at Washington, but has gone nowhere in 3 years at Colorado. Like Vonleh will be at her third school.
What happened in Boulder? They lost several key players to graduation, but have been bleeding out players to the portal. Could've still had a decent nucleus next year, now they look to be in rebuilding mode.

Angie is a Canzano wanna be... everything from her is a "reliable source". If she isn't directly talking to the person and "quoting" them, she's typically full of it. She and the entire industry she's in, lives off rumor and hoping something comes of it so they can "break" a story.

Does anyone have any idea how much $$ any of the players that are leaving were making?
