02beav,
Since you are on quite a roll here, do you expect Coach Rueck to still stick around at OSU or will he go elsewhere, retire , or ?
I expect him to stay unless something great comes up and he becomes a candidate for that. Options are pretty limited. He's making a million dollars are year here for as long as he wants. I think he likes his situation at OSU and is well compensated. However, he has to be wondering if he can still compete on a national level at OSU. He will be an attractive candidate for the next couple of years to programs in major conferences.

It was in a movie. Iowa, corn field, baseball, not women's D1 basketball, and was not about Caitlin Clark. It was about "If You Build it." We are headed to an "If you build it" type of place. For OSU the WCC is our cornfield. PAC-12 is gone. Most of our players are soon leaving for bigger schools, bigger brands, and bigger media markets. They don't what it takes to stay. Maybe, just maybe a few might stay. I walked by Gill today and thought I heard "If You Build it." OSU women's basketball program is a place dreams come true. So many of our basketball players experienced life changing moments at OSU/Gill. Its powerful stuff my friend and the power is still there. We are headed to the WCC but you better believe we will be back and "Go The Distance." Is this Heaven? No its OSU Corvallis.

One more hitting the portal tonight and a very big one likely tomorrow. 02Beav,
In regards to your prediction above, please do not leave us in suspense.
Who are the two you are predicting will be the next to go? I am guessing Beers and Hunter will be your selections.
Next years starting lineup AT BEST: Schuler, Marotte, Hansford, Paurova, Rees. That is still subject to some meaningful 'slippage' via portal in the coming week (Hansford??). But as it stands, that FIVE isn't actually that bad, especially for WCC play. Much better IF some depth (and height!) is added thru Europe or the portal.

Amen, brother! Well said. You might be surprised at what he has to sell. Elite 8/final 4 coaching staff, history of success, good to great crowds/fan base, West Coast travel for league play, Hawaii and likely some larger school trips in non league, playing time, an opportunity for someone who is looking for just that. Makes sense, and I hope you are right. Unfortunately, apparently there wasn't enough to sell to keep his best players out of the portal.

Gonna be awhile before OSU plays 5 top 20 teams as part of the regular season! Maybe again someday, but not in the WCC.

I saw Scott this afternoon, walking on Walnut Boulevard near 29th Street. Talking on his phone, so I guess he's busy.
Two of my all-time favorite OSU players are Alyssa Martin and Earlysia Marchbanks. Committed/signed when things were at their very bleakest. Never waivered, and stuck it out. True Beavers.

Remember a reason brink went pro was she wasn't looking forward to the travel in the ACC. Others may have the same viewpoint.

I wonder if any of them are look at moving to TSDTR? Elite 8 and a legitimate contender for Final 4 next year gone in a flash - just nuts.
It's a mad, mad, mad world.

My guess is the more important reasons she is going pro is that she is likely to be the second pick in the WNBA draft behind Clark and has nothing left to prove at Stanford, she has her degree and the coach who recruited her is retiring.

I'd like to know why the players are actually leaving, just curious what it takes to leave an elite eight team with a good chance of improving on that next year. There are a limited number of schools that are in the same situation.
Covid, the portal, being able to transfer as many times as wanted with any repercussions, and finally getting dumped on by the judas 10. Add to it the drop to wcc and it is no wonder OSU can't keep a team together. When do staff start their exodus?

Anybody wanna buy a “Beavs-Beers-Buckets” tee shirt? Make a good car wash rag. Wait. Maybe it’s a collector’s item!
Heading to Goodwill 1st thing tomorrow to see what kind of BeavStuff the transitraiters leave behind.

Their top 2 players have entered the portal, and that after a disastrous season. Not sure why anyone would want to go there at this point.

My guess is the first phone call UO will make is to the former OSU and UO assistant coach and current head coach at TCU Mark Campbell.
