Well, that was a disappointing decision by Mitch. Why a true frosh in a big time situation? Very disappointed in that decision. Mitch also should have told the guys to not strikeout 23 times. Sheesh. This game is not on MC.

One huge positive was May. We better hope that is not a season ending injury. He is real stud!

I am OK with Jones PH. I can guarantee that everyone in the dugout now truly believes they could be called at any time to perform. It could pay dividends in the future, make everyone sharper.

Levi Jones pinch hitting. WHo dat? I think that Levi Jones has power than other left hitters like Trosky against right handed pitcher???

Tough one to lose but that isn't going to hurt us a bit long term (unless May is real hurt). Good game to sharpen the boys up. Totally agreed. Lose by one run with a guy on third in the 9th to the number two team in the country, not going to hurt a thing. Could be worse, their one loss is to James Madison at home. If May is really hurt, that could be super costly for us though. We just don’t have an ace after him. I really don’t like our chances to win it all if he goes down for the season.

I understand the concerns on the K’s, but that guy is the number 2 pitcher in the country and had the best game of his career. Just happened to be against us, and we still almost won. I’m equally as impressed that we didn’t throw in the towel and gave ourselves a chance to win that. We need games like that to prep us for big games later on in the season. We won’t see another pitcher that dominant again unless we face Wake Forest or Arkansas in the postseason.

I am pissed. I thought the Beavers were going undefeated this season. Sucked the life right out of me.

Everyone is going to have to step up, if May is out for any period of time. Oregon State has an extra starter. Kmatz or Segura becomes the ace, the other throws on Saturday, and Hunter throws Sunday. I honestly was curious how they were going to approach this weekend with Kmatz, Segura, and Hunter.

Ks are a concern... they are wasted outs. Tonight isn't the reason for the concern, it just adds to it. As this team was averaging close to 9+ per before. When 1/3 of your given outs are wasted its an issue. It's like only having 6 innings of offense to use.
Who MC pitch hits isn't really a concern. My issue is you have a kid make his debut in that situation. His debut when you couldn't find him an inning, an AB or two in the lopsided games thus far?
With May, season ending or not it appeared more serious than not. When something like that happens on the mound vs tightening in the dugout it's typically not good. Let's hope it's just a stained forearm and he misses 2-3 starts.
So nice to see great competition early in the season. Coming back even with a horrendous series of ABs/Ks will do more than any of the early Ws!

Tough one to lose but that isn't going to hurt us a bit long term (unless May is real hurt). Good game to sharpen the boys up. Or if Kasper is really hurt. Sadly we have more depth to cover Kasper than a Friday Night guy. Macias, Talt and Reeder are all experienced guys who can ball.
