What I am seeing is the margin of error for other teams is a razor with this offense. We are averaging almost 5 HR a game through 3, thats absurd even for a nice hot streak. Statistically our worst career batter is Smith and he had 3 hits and hes batting 400. We have a legit 11 deep with Peterson and Weber and that doesn't even count Talt, Macias, Trosky and Reeder who have all had quality starts in the past. Are we seriously 15 deep at the plate with proven P12 quality players? The margin of error for other teams is a razor with this offense. it’s early, but you can see the raw athleticism. Unlike the 18 team, this team isn’t filled with grinders, it’s built more like an SEC offense. Everyone has power and most everyone has speed. Perhaps the scariest visual is when Trent and Brady bunt and get on, now you have legit power players who force you to defend all 402’ of the ball field, from the plate to the fence. I know for a fact I wouldn’t play the bunt against Trent, dude could literally kill you with how hard he hits the ball. I actually totally agree with that assessment. I like the SEC offense comparison. Although 18’ was a phenomenal offense, and this team should compete with their accomplishments, the makeup of this lineup is different. The amount of power in this lineup is like nothing we have ever had at OSU. In addition, I wouldn’t be surprised if 6,7, 8 of these guys also hit over .300. It’s just insane. Yes, it’s a small sample size, but you can see the talent with every single hitter. Pitchers might limit us at times (like we saw today for six innings), but when we explode, it’s just an absolute onslaught. I also really really liked what I saw from Segura. True freshmen comes in and for his first five innings had command with his fastball and didn’t walk a single batter until the sixth. We need that out of another starting pitcher. We have to have starters who are efficient and can get us five plus innings consistently. He was only at I think 62 pitches in the sixth. For a first outing, I was impressed and can see potential there for sure. Holmes looked nasty and pitched us out of a big jam in the sixth. Did I hear it right that he was throwing 94 from that arm angle? With his slider he will be really tough to hit. So so good to see Mundt come in and look super sharp. Couple of K’s, off speed pitches looked great with consistent command. Great day, Go Beavs!

He had a lot of movement on them so even when he was center of the zone the balls either hit the dirt or were popped up. Gonna take some talented hitting to get a good contact angle on his stuff.

Let up back to back singles in he sixth when he got pulled.

Yeah Segura had the highest strike rate and cleanest start of the starters so far. I think May and Kmatz both have better stuff but his control was very good. Was a bit hard to believe he was a frosh and not a CC transfer.

Gives me hope that we have a full platoon of strong pitchers. We know that they'll keep adjusting and improving, so it could be fun.

I think today was cool because we had a great strike rate which has been lacking in the first 2 games. Not sure where to get it anymore but I think Segura, Holmes and Mundt had a total strike rate of 63% but im going off memory. In comparison the first two games were around 45% which isn't gonna get it done unless you are a really good contact pitcher or the offense is explosive. When the pitchers get strikes and you have an explosive offense the games get very comfortable in a hurry.

Imagine if this bullpen also had Jimenez, Palmer, and Decremer. They will have their time. End of this year we for sure lose Lattery, Mundt, Scott (one and done transfer), Lawson, and Hunter. Guys who will be eligible for draft are Kmatz, May, Ferguson, Reynolds, Holmes, Montgomery, Keljo (?), and Meija. Looks like we have some really solid pitchers coming in but were still going to lose 5-13 guys + transfers out.

Damn! I listened through the 6th inning. What a battle! Then the wife had me go look at a couple of houses with her. When I came back to the car, Mundt was closing and the Roadrunners had hemorrhaged. I almost felt sorry for the Bakersfield. It was a close game for 6 innings. Hey wilkyisdashiznit have the Beavers ever produced so many HRs in just 3 games? Any 3 games? 14 in three games is the most in at least 25 years. The 13 between Portland and the first two Western Carolina games last year was the old record. It would take a lot of research to figure out the record before 1999.

Turley only hit it about 425ft. Amazing what these guys can do at the plate. Our struggling hitter is Guerra! Hainline is 1 for 8, Guerra is 2 for 12. Both are off to slow starts.
