Lack of an adequate post player is killing the Beavs. Ibekwe and Marial are the worst pair of 5’s in the league. Both lack rebounding, blocking out and scoring ability, Beavs at time look like it 4 on 5…….. Exactly right. Ironic that the two main coaches are bigs but can't seem to find a way to coach one up. Ibekwe did not start playing basketball until high school after switching to the sport from soccer, where he was a goalie. Ibekwe came to Oregon State in September, missing the trip to Italy and those practices. Ibekwe was not supposed to be playing nearly as much as he did last year but was forced into it, when Chol was injured. Looking at the change between this year and last year, Ibekwe's field goal percentage is up. Ibekwe's free throw percentage is up. He is getting more rebounds, has more assists, has more steals, and has more than doubled his ppg. Coaching does not appear to be the issue, but disagree, if you would like.

Ibekwe is no where near a Pac 12 caliber starting center, no matter when he starting playing basketball. Not sure what him not supposed to have played much last year has to do with this year. In fact, given that one could expect his numbers to be quite a bit better than last year, but FG% is the only one. He’s getting more of all those things you mention because he’s playing twice as many minutes as last year, which really skews things (and which you know since you used his ppg. Per minute, here is how it breaks out. First number in each category is last year and second is this year. Min (total) 193 401 Points .269 .316 Rebounds .249 .224 Assists .016 .030 Steals .000 .025 Blocks .109 .057 So he actually has worse rebounds and blocks per minute. You know, two things you want out of a center. He seems like a good kid and his offense is a little better, but not that much. I’m not sure if any other coach would be getting more out of him, but he’s not good enough to be starting or seeing the number of minutes he is. That’s on Tinkle and his recruiting and roster construction.

Wow... yeah seems like another justification/another excuse... a 9-11 UCLA team who had scored 70 twice in Pac12 play?? I would say many thought OSU as the "hot" team after the Arizona weekend. UCLA had gone 3-1 vs UW win by 12, @ fading ASU by 2, @ UA losing huge lead, lost by 6, @ last place USC win by 15. They were playing better as a team with 12 underclassmen, but hot?? One of the best opportunities an OSU team has ever had to win at Pauley. The road struggles are very real... the numbers posted during last night's telecast were staggering. I stand corrected on the "hot" thing. Had it in my head that they'd won 3 of the last 4 coming in without looking it up. I had hopes for a win, I'm disappointed but not upset. This team is not to the point that it plays consistently ok to well on the road. More often they can play badly, they didn't play badly last night. Hopefully they play better against USC and get the win. You were correct... just not teams that were really "great" wins. Although I guess winning two at Gill does make you "hot" either, even if one was UA. The Pac12 is really mediocre top to bottom... some great talent, but not great teams to this point. At least in terms of consistency. I guess no matter what one thinks of the job WT has done this was a season OSU had a chance to jump up and take advantage of the Pac12 in it's last year. I guess even for the "anti-WT" guy this season has been disappointing to this point. But, as Tommy Lloyd has told his team... December/January do not matter. It is how you are playing going into February to prep for March and hopefully April. SC "has" to be a win!

I agree that he does not appear to be progressing defensively like we all would have hoped.
