In a twist of irony, the complaining about Taylor Swift has now overtaken the focus on Taylor Swift on the annoyance meter! Agreed. I know ONE SONG by her…..because I’ve watched the animated movie “Sing” a million times with my grandkids……. but she’s a phenomenon, no question. Her target audience IS NOT “angry white guys,” AND it must piss them off that she doesn’t “entertain them.” She’s a talented woman from very humble beginnings who is a BILLIONAIRE. Is THAT what pisses that demographic off? Someone PLEASE explain that to me. Why the “TSDS?” Honest to God. After the game yesterday, went to the grocery store before the Lion/49r game. Of course there were two middle aged morons COMPLAINING about having to see Taylor (f%#*ing) Swift in the SB, loud enough so half the store could hear them. They made DAMN sure of that. Idiots….for some reason….want to make SURE no one has any doubts about there stupidity. Loud, obnoxious, probably half s%#t-faced Being me, I quietly suggested “if it pisses them off so bad….they shouldn’t watch.” They had NO response. Someone EXPLAIN the derangement syndrome about this singer/songwriter who MILLIONS young girls idolize. I DON’T GET IT.

It is the over the top fawning by the media of any individual, no matter who it is. Find me someone who has solved world hunger, endless wars and racism for good - then we can idolize that person. But Taylor Swift? Who cares?
There have been lots of talented singers before her, and there will be lots after her. Someone likes her music? Good for them. But no singer's appeal is universal. It is the over the top hysteria, kinda like the young white guy Beatles in the '60's, with screaming girls, that is over the top. Then or now. Idolatry is generally not a good thing, at any level.

I was thinking about this and I started wondering why was Jack Nicholson pretty much glorified sitting courtside for Laker games. As I remember it they showed him more than Taylor Swift. The NBA used to highlight all kinds of celebrities in the audience. I don't watch it anymore so not sure if they still do. Anyway, I think they overdid the TS coverage at first but have backed off and I don't think it's a bigger deal than showing a player's parents and family. It's just that she's mega-famous.

Ya'll think the NFL and networks AREN'T going to showcase a cultural phenomenon? Ca-ching, ca-ching. $$$$$. Just ignore it if it pisses you off. It represents what; 1/2 of 1 percent of the broadcast?

This is the least appealing SB match-up to me that I can recall. I despise both of these teams immensely and wish upon all wishes that they both could lose. I hope for a terrible game, or major blemish on someone's legacy. It's the Super Bowl, so I will watch it, but I will hope for bad things to happen on every play. I posted on another thread that it was the least-appealing Super Bowl matchup since the 2013 Har-Battle between Jim Harbaugh's Niners and John Harbaugh's Ravens. It was such a terrible game that they shut off the lights early at the Super Bowl. People were trapped in elevators. 34 minutes later, play resumed. Decent game after that with the Niners scoring 23 straight and being a two-point conversion away from tying at one point and then had three cracks from the five to go ahead late. The Ravens took a safety on the game's last offensive play of the game and then tackled Ginn with no time left after the free kick for a 34-31 win. The right Harbaugh won, and it wound up an entertaining game. But it was just such an unappealing matchup. No one to root for. I also posted on the other thread that the Super Bowl before that that was this bad was the 2006 Seahawks-Steelers snoozer, 21-10. Only fans of the teams cared. Awful game. At the time, it was the lowest-scoring Super Bowl in 31 years. Only the 13-3 snoozer between the Pats and Rams five years ago surpassed it.

I find it equally goofy that people get fired up about people getting fired up about Taylor swift being shown during chiefs games. I mean who gives an eff either way? I
I think we saw the real reason the dude who's so fired up, is fired up......he's got some deal with "angry white men" apparently
All I know is, everything swift touches turns to gold, and the NFL is LOVING this! They care about money, period.

It just so happens, there are a s%#tload of angry white “dudes” who FIT that description. You’re welcome

In a twist of irony, the complaining about Taylor Swift has now overtaken the focus on Taylor Swift on the annoyance meter! Well, sadly, we know the reason is 100% politics. It has nothing to do with Taylor Swift herself, and everything to do with the influence she has over millions upon millions of eligible voters. And that is a far as I am going on this topic.
