The FT’s are a product of the way ASU plays. Pressing and going for every steal is going to lead to that. They play hoping the refs can’t call everything. Coincidentally, the ASU women employed the same strategy under Mulkey Charli Turner Thorne. Must be a crazy temper tantrum coach thing. They both remind me of each other though. Oh s%#t. Oops. Got my crazies mixed up.

That's just rude. Mulkey would be insulted by having her crazy confused for anyone else's.

Beavs looked like a REAL basketball team these last two games. Honest to God “good team.” Would LOVE to see them continue that. But…. I’ve been hardened by years of unrequited expectations (my fault), and “one step forward, five steps back road woes. I wanna BELIEVE. Well... the downside to a 13 pt home win... - when is OSU going to shoot 49 FTs again? And get 29 points from the line? Yeah 20 misses! Many were because of the situation but... - will ASU shoot 3/26 from 3 at home? They took 20 more shots, mostly due to the late foul strategy. Such a weird season... When was the last time OSU shot 49 FT's in ONE game? I'm going to wager and say they won't get that many COMBINED in the 2 upcoming games in LA. OSU needs to get to FT line, they were 74% coming into the game today.

The last time that Oregon State shot 49 free throws in one game was in the 2016-17 season opener against Prairie View, a 20-point win. In the Tinkle era, the most free throws that Oregon State had shot in a game against a Power Six team was against Oklahoma State in the 2021 Tourney, 35. What is crazy is that the Cowboys shot 38 free throws in the same game.

Such a weird season... 20 misses would have been only 13 misses had they shot their season average (74.6%) as of pre-game. Not a good shooting night, disastrous in a close game, but the team well made up for it in other areas. I wasn't paying attention enough to count how many of those misses were on the front end of a 1 and 1, that could have potentially cost a lot of points.

Didn’t get to watch……
Another blue print for success game.
Pope, Bilodeau, Rataj leading the way in scoring.
The Beavers probably could have scored 100. ASUs forwards must not be very good….based on the score book the guys with Forward position designation didn’t do anything.
ASU was epically bad shooting but then hit 22/25 from the stripe effectively keeping them within 20.
Great victory, but I’m gonna rain on it a Bit, ASU was awful and the Beavers probably should have won by 30+

That was indeed a lot of free throws, but OSU earned every one of them. ASU committed a lot of fouls. If we had lost, we'd be hearing a lot about the 20 that were missed.

Thus the comment from McClain "It's the game that's over but won't end."

About 20 of those came after we had built a 18-20 point lead and Hurley continued to foul. If they just play straight-up defense instead of hackball, we shhot 29 free throws, still win by 15-20 and everyone goes home 20 minutes earlier. MacLean was getting pretty disgusted by Hurley's approach in the final 5-10 minutes. But Hurley's a dick. Dick coaches do dick things. Glad we kicked his ass back to Tempe.

I don’t like it much, but it kept his team in the game. Had ASU hit a couple threes his strategy might’ve paid off. As it was, we just got extra free throw shooting practice.

Made for a boring ending that was made palatable by Beavers winnin.

Obviously the extra practice didn't prove helpful!? Right. Which made the move a worthwhile one. If we had hit more of those late free throws, he might not have had his team foul us like crazy. But missing free throws when you have a good sized lead is forgivable. They just need to make the ones when it's a close game.

The worst thing about a message board... humor of any kind doesn't come across most times.
