The photo is from the MC. So probably the Far West Classic. Any guesses on what team is the opponent in the photo?

Anyone remember Rocky Smith? Played on the Lonnie Shelton, George Tucker, Paul Miller teams in the mid-70’s. That guy had serious range. Would have been devastating in the 3-pt era.

I came into watching and rooting for OSU when Lonnie Smith was not on the team due to some foul play with the Knicks? Who was the guy we had who had the worst stroke from the free throw line during that era?. He was left handed.

Interesting thing about Duane to me was that in all the Barometer writeups at the time, he was lights out in practice, at least his first two years. Said he had a real nice shot, it didn't transfer to games though. By his 3rd/4th seasons he really didn't shoot as much. He had so much going for him in his overall game though. Heck of an athlete. Seems to me he got some professional interest in another sport or two (football? soccer?) after he was done.

Great Rob Holbrook story : Billy Mcshane tells this. They are up at WSU and the cougs students decided they not going to let the beavers warm up before the game. They started filing out around the beavers half of the court and kept getting in the way. Beavers are in layup lines. Holbrook tells Mcshane I’m going to throw you a fastball, I’ll nod before I throw and you bend over and tie your shoes. Mcshane said the ball knocked down 2 or 3 students and they all went back up to their seats. RIP Hooter
