it doesn't have to be this way. I understand the college sports landscape has it's blue bloods; that evolved over time and is hard to break into;; that's what makes Pat Casey a demi God I also understand, as some of you have eluded to, that NIL is just making public what was behind closed doors before, but this article is a little depressing. It almost makes me want them to create a super conference and put us(me) out of our(my) misery; but I digress, GO BEAVERS! we will always be David and I'm ok with that

Didn't Sammie Stroughter hand out stones to his teammates prior to the game with USC in 2006? I want it to be true, if I am misremembering.

We won with Clinton Polk having a big game in place of the injured Yvenson Bernard. My son shook Jeff Van Orso's hand the next night at a Halloween party in the Trux Center, told him it was the most famous right hand in OSU football history at the moment.

We have definitely entered a new era. An era where programs with wealthy benefactors can buy players. It's not fair, and that's what those who don't have money would say. Unfortunately, Oregon State will feel the pain greater than most P5/P4 schools. I think this could be one of the main reasons Coach Smith left OSU, he looked into the crystal ball and didn't like what he saw at Oregon State. At MSU, they have a billionaire benefactor who likes to spend money on football. What would you do? Our NIL Collective, Dam Nation was proud to raise $2M. Phil Knight spent $12M on signing day last month. From conference realignment, to Smith leaving, to the football and MBB players leaving Corvallis for NIL, it's gonna shape Beaver sports the rest of this decade. Imagine a MBB team where every year or two, the team gets poached of its best players. That could be the death blow to the program.

I ran into Jeff right before the Alamo Bowl, shook his hand. I was hoping that it was good luck. I still think that Oregon State would have won, if only I had worn the right shirt.

I think he was using us to parlay into a bigger job. Now, had we not been facing what we are, maybe he doesn't jump on the MSU job so fast, but I think he takes that job, ultimately, no matter OSU's sitch. But, he is now persona non grata at his alma mater.......and maybe he doesn't care. He made his choice.

CJS is/was OSU's favorite son. Then he took our recruiting class and our players. Someday, I may forgive, but not right now.

That's a projected number that I came up with given the number of 4 and 5 star recruits they signed at the current market price. These recruits are expensive and Phil is desperate to win a ring before he pops. He'll pay more. It's an estimate. If you don't like it, oh well.

Sorry Judge, you really think uncle phil didn't open up the bag on signing day this year?
Do you mean you think other doink boosters opened up their bag, or do you really think all those recruits came to UO out of the goodness of their hearts instead of for a huge NIL check...

I’m not saying he didn’t. But, to put it out as fact that Phil spent $12 million on the signing class with no source is ridiculous.
