and we have a game tomorrow at Utah, 12-5/3-3.
The team badly needs a spark. A road win tomorrow would be a nice one.

Can you imagine? A road win? At elevation? In THIS economy? And during an election year?

Beavs are 15.5 point underdogs to Utah tonight. Is that too much, or not enough? If this team still had Jarod Lucas and Glenn Taylor Jr, I'd like our chances a lot more, but they're gone, they took the money. Call them NIL Transfers. In 2024, and moving forward, the NIL Transfer portal threatens every Beaver sport, esp football and MBB. Jordan Pope is on deck. The transfer portal + NIL = kryptonite for Beaver sports. And yes, it's already effecting Beaver baseball and WBB too.

If NIL is the excuse today for MBB what was the excuse for tinkle and team before the NIL? It's like some want to pretend that under tinkle prior to NIL the team was .500 and more and after NIL the team sunk.

It's like some want to pretend that under tinkle prior to NIL the team was .500 and more and after NIL the team sunk. He's the best coach since Ralph. That's undeniable. Who needs excuses for that? And that's in an era that's far more difficult than Jimmy, Eddie, Ritchie, Jay and CR had it. Other programs have invested (Oregon, USC, CU, UW, etc) while OSU has regressed. It's harder today than 1994. The transfer portal and NIL threaten to delegitimize Beaver sports, already kinda have.

Depends how you define best. Per Wikipedia tinkle has a 45% overall winning percentage and a 34% league winning percentage. Robinson did better at 47% overall and 36% league. Yep, Wayne's killing it.

How many times are we gonna do this? 5 winning seasons. 2 NCAA invites. Pac12 Tournament title. Greatest MBB season in 40 years. First NCAA tournament win in 40 years. Winning record in NCAA tournament. What's more important? A winning record in Pac12 play or the NCAA tournament?

Like I've said in the past if he is the best we can ever do give him a life time extension. And I will say it now because others won't the elite 8 was a complete aberration of his coaching prowess. Don't get me wrong it was great but to give him a multi year extension because of it without taking into account what he did before that year was a big mistake. By the way how many winning league seasons does wayne have? I'd rather look at what he does against similar competition than how we did against Linfield and Idaho state. Anyway defend him all you want.

speak: Do you think the MBB team record would be better if Lucas and GTJr had stayed and started for this team? What about next year when Pope and Tyler leave for NIL transfer money?
How about this: what would you do if Phil Knight/Division Street offered Reagan Beers $1M to transfer to Oregon? What type of impact would that have on the OSU WBB team and what would it do to Scott Rueck's win/loss record?

A winning overall record season in basketball doesn't truly mean much these days when it can be flooded with cupcakes in November and December and somehow manage to go 7-13 in conference play and only getting one win in the conference tournament.

And when WT gets replaced in a year of two, which he will, and the new coach comes in and recruits well and then his top players leave for NIL transfer money the following season, then what?

Does Nevada have a deeper NIL chest than OSU? I honestly don't know. Same with St. Johns. Glenn's currently averaging 5 pts., 3 rbds, 1 assist. Do the Red Storm just have so much money they're going to chase a guy across the country and throw a bunch of cash at him for that kind of output? You got me. But it feels like both just left to try a different basketball program - than to get paid.

So next year, when Pope and Tyler leave, it's gonna be: "Are we sure they took NIL money or did WT run them off?"
Former OSU MBB coach Tim Shelton told Beaver Nation the truth. People just don't want to accept it.
