The more wayne coaches the more everyone can see the elite 8 was an aberration. Kind of like tossing heads 10 times in a row. A one year extension ok. But come on based on what he had accomplished up til then no way he should have received what he did. Like I said he has received far more than he should have or ever dreamed of. Walk away wayne. Beavernation Will forever be thankful.

OSU MBB has slowly fallen behind last 35 years. Cheap hires. Bad facilities. People will say the facilities were upgraded but Eddie (who was hired on the cheap) complained about them in 1996 and nobody did anything until 2013. By then, it was too late. Even today, Gill is a relic, but let's move on. Currently, we have our main rival, Oregon (invested $2B in sports) buying top players in Oregon and other schools utilizing NIL in recruiting. Where is the Dam Nation money for new recruits? This is a new threat to Beaver basketball. The MBB job has become more challenging than ever. It keeps getting worse.
I'm all for firing WT when it makes sense, but who takes the job? Kyle Smith isn't walking thru those doors at Gill.

Put up the $8.7 million. Then, we can have a real conversation. So you willing to go all the way to the last day of the contract before telling tinkle we are going to go a different direction? If not at some point you will be paying him not to coach. Pretty much happens anywhere and everywhere there is a coaching change unless the coach resigns, retires, or is let go for unethical reasons. As of right now there isn't a single recruit committed for next season. Not one. Likely Pope won't be here next year. I know we are completely loaded with talent and can understand why a recruit wouldn't want to commit and then sit on the bench (sarcasm) but come on not a single recruit. Due to coaching and recruiting abilities it's time to make a change. As far as commits go, where’s the space? I believe Dexter HAS another year if he wants it due to the Covid year waiver, and due to the fact the NCAA has been extending injury waivers like popcorn (last year Dejuan Clayton started 8 games for Cal in his 7th year with playing time in college basketball) there’s a fair chance Chol has another year coming if he wants it. Not signing players this year is not all that straight forward a failure. In your wisdom, do we just sign players and guarantee some kid/kids playing right now will be asked to leave? I think that’s something you sort out after the season ends. If it were guaranteed we were losing one or more, then not signing replacements would definitely be a failure. If the season goes badly (surprise, we’re ahead of the Elite 8 year in the win column right now) I suspect he will be canned. TIL then, I’m hoping for the best for the team.

I hope Dexter and Chol both come back. I worry about Pope getting picked off with NIL. There is a chance that Dam Nation could "Martinez" him. That could be a formidable squad next year.
edit: I think both Dexter and Chol do come back. I'm calling it now.

Chol is a shot blocker. Got to give him that.

Dex, I would take back. If I were a ruthless fella and a top notch center was available I’d maybe risk signing a kid, but for now I’d probably wait for clarity. We, for now, have a full roster, we also have a guard they thought was going to start sitting out with an injury, and Tinkle has shown he can get players after the season in years past. I’m thinking the roster will be different next season, but no current players need losing a scholarship on their mind during the season right now.

Chol is a shot blocker. Got to give him that. He better be at 7'2", but he only has 19 in 16 games, the same as KC. Yes, KC plays a lot more, but Chol is still mostly a liability on both ends other than the occasional shot block. I would like to see Ndong get his minutes going forward.

It doesn't change the fact that he just doesn't provide much on either end. That is why Tinkle put in Ndong in the 2nd half when KC got into foul trouble. Chol got burned on back-door cuts several times in the 1st half.

Amazing... a 3 & 3 guy with 26 turns, 5 assists is now considered a vital piece that needs to stick around.
I believe his minutes are due to his production? Would he get more PT if he actually produced?
A career 2 &2 player! I guess if that's the best one can recruit... sure🤔
As stated, OSU has some young bigs that need time. Ndong and Marrs need every minute that Chol gets and more. If not, there is more than Pope & others that may consider leaving.

Per KenPom, Chol blocks 12.3% of two-point attempts while he is on the court. Ibekwe is at 7.5%. Third on the team is Bilodeau at 1.9%. I'm excluding Marrs (5.4%) because of so few minutes. For perspective, Kelley was at 16.1% and 13.3% for his two years.

Although it might be one of the most meaningless stats ever. First, completely has zero to do with a player's ability to play a complete game. Kelly played/was a factor at both ends. Second, completely ignores the opponent's shot selection. So, I block a 2 pt shot (actually could at one time!?), but the opponent takes 7 other shots in my stint that are 3's. 100% for my time! Chol is a detriment this far into his career. Play guys with a future.

That is why stats don't always tell the story. If you watch him, he plays very tentatively on both ends and the blocks don't make up for the numerous times he's out of position and giving up layups.

Final 1-4 in conference. 9-7 overall. Soooooo frustrating. Out coached and out played. So, with tie breaker, 12th place... UCLA's only W 😒 When you get 12 assists on 31 hoops it's just terrible offensive flow. Everything is solo... dribble dribble dribble ...wait for the shot clock to wind down, and take an off-balance ill-advised shot? I didn't watch the game, but this seems like a safe bet from every year previous.
