Usually consider D a relative strength of the Beavers, but last two games have been ugly. Akanno being out definitely hurt on both ends of the court, but not sure outcome would have been different in either game. Never seen so many uncontested drives to the hoop by opponents. After the first two conference games, I was hopeful Beavs would surpass the 5 conference wins I predicted. Not feeling so hopeful after the last two games.

The only thing is keeping me holding on to a thread of hope is the fact they were road games. Maybe they would have turned out better at Gill?

How many years are left on tinkles contract?

How many years are left on tinkles contract? His contract runs thru 2026-27. Firing WT is the easy part. I'd give him this year and maybe one more year at OSU. Pope will be gone after this year. Maybe Tyler too if he continues to develop. The position of MBB head coach at Oregon State has historically been the worst job in the Pac12 for years (Yes, WSU is a better job). Now with the transfer portal and NIL, it's gotten even worse. Changing conferences brings a new dynamic, but it's a double edged sword. People say there are young, hungry coaches out there wanting the job. I disagree.

I don’t think WT is bill self by any means, but the team has to execute. I’m gonna keep harping on this singular point…….this is a really really good free throw shooting team. Our offense should be built around taking the ball to the bucket and shooting lay ups, free throws and 3 pointers. This 8-14 ft jump shot offense accomplishes none of the 3

Agree with you. Taking the ball to the bucket. Our best player at doing that was Glenn Taylor Jr, and he was offered money and left. That leaves Dexter, who's also good at that, but he wasn't really available yesterday. People will say he played, but he clearly wasn't right.
Huskies shot 33 free throws yesterday. Beavs shot 15.

Taking the ball to the bucket is not in our repertoire. Case in point 7 2 marial gets a ball off a rebound six from the hoop (if that far), no one in front of him. A free monster dunk. One dribble and hammer that mother home. Nope, he throws up a weak brick from five feet.

Wow. Taking shots at the Beaver players now? Chol never asked for the injuries he's sustained in his career and I have a lot of respect for him going thru the surgeries and doing the rehab to try to help the Beaver MBB team be better.

You are right I should have just wrote the 7 2 center and left out the name. Ok I realize he has had medical issues but come on at that physical heighth he literally has to take one dribble and jump a few inches. If he is that fragile he shouldn't be playing.

Given that Beavers will essentially be a WCC team for the next 2 seasons, even with the buyout (saw $750k, not sure if correct) given how much more WT will make than other WCC coaches (Few only one close to WT’s salary I’m guessing), it now makes financial sense to cut the cord.

Sure. Given the current circumstances with Beaver MBB and the next 2 years, it will be the perfect excuse for OSU to go with a cheap hire for the next coach. At least it will be consistent with the last 30 years of new head coach hires with a school that doesn't really care about MBB.

People say there are young, hungry coaches out there wanting the job. I disagree. You typically always disagree... but, this statement is ridiculous. You are really saying there are NO "young, hungry" coaches wanting to be a HC? And, a HC of a P6 team? No matter the current state of affairs, there are young coaches everywhere in EVERY sport waiting for their chances. And the one key characteristic of almost every coach is that they can make a change/difference. It is part of the coaching ego... I can do better than the last guy. And, with OSU the bar is not extremely high. New conference, new connections, new system, new "voice"/enthusiasm... and most of all a salary in the high 6 figures to start with escalation clauses vs extensions. There will be a ton of interested younger coaches... and we do not need an old retread. Buyout could easily be covered in HC/Staff savings. In looking at WCC and similar staff salaries, OSU could save over $2 million per year. While at the same the recruiting budget will be more in line with the new conference as a whole and also has some room to be increased. With Gill on the schedule to get an interior face lift (we'll see?) a new direction is needed. Whether or not it will happen?? But, to say there aren't young assistants and HCs out there that would not want the OSU is crazy talk.
