This team works its ass off on D. That alone kept them in this game. Cougs had a terrible 1st half because of it.
Problem is, there is exactly 1 polished player on the team. Akanno is close, but everyone else is a project to one degree or another. If by some miracle they find their way into a post season tournament I could see them making a cinderella run, but I'm expecting a very up and down season from here on out. Still a glaring lack of skill and/or experience.
I also wish Tinkle would show a little more fire sometimes. The Mr Nice Guy act is getting old when we haven't had a sustained run of success with him basically ever. Even the Elite 8 run was an anomaly at the end of a very frustrating season. Dude, at least ACT like you give a damn. I mean, has he ever been tossed out of a game for standing up against lopsided officiating? I don't remember it happening. One of the best coaches ever literally threw a chair on the court out of disgust. We could have used a little more fire tonight in the 2nd half when every time they drove the lane they were getting a whistle, and the exact opposite was happening at the other end of the court.

Total of 5 assists tonight …..yikes Thats what happens when you only shoot 36% for the game. 22/61. Who knows how many more assists they would have had if they actually made shots.

I mean he got T'd up against UCLA. Helped the Bruins win the game. After GAG, I am a much bigger fan of level-headed over raving sociopath. Others may miss GAG, though, and want to inject some of that listless insanity into the basketball program.

That's Tinkle's problem - he needs the team to increase both the reps and the max on the squats.

Not full blown bi-polar, alcoholic, sociopath. Nobody wants that, aside from possibly the sociopath. Most of the best coaches out there have a little edge to them. Do you look at Dana Altman, and think, hmmm, nice guy. I sure don't, but the dude gets it done. Wayne is just a little too nice IMO.

Total of 5 assists tonight …..yikes Yeah... not sure we all watched the same game?! All the shots the "normally" make? WSU played equally outstanding D. From 16-6 lead and the rest of the half, most of the 2nd OSU was shooting with hands in their face and fading away. WSU took away open the jump shots that were there early on. From there it was falling away on a consistent basis. Especially Tyler. Akano not there was of course a factor. But, 58 pts isn't winning many Pac12 games. Other guys need to step up when that happens. Our guys were simply out "physicaled". Giving up over double what the Cougs scored in half #1 is not great D. And, it wasn't the officials. OSU was consistently reaching. One team made better adjustments and players overcame a bad half. UW is 0-3 and will be hungry. Plus they are a high flying/scoring team. At least we didn't have the angry Wildcats in Tucson! Yikes.

At least we didn't have the angry Wildcats in Tucson! Yikes.I was driving home and listening to the Arizona pregame. They basically called several members of the team out for losing to Stanford. They then pointed out that Colorado was missing five different key players. But that they were better than Stanford even without those guys. They also pointed out that this was Arizona's first home game since beating Wisconsin 26 days ago. Arizona started 8-0 before losing to Purdue in Indianapolis. Arizona rebounded to beat Alabama in Phoenix but then lost to Florida Atlantic in double-overtime in Vegas. The Wildcats won by 19 in Berkeley but got smoked on the road by Stanford by 18 on NYE. It's crazy that Colorado lost by so much, though. The Buffs' third loss of the year. So far, Colorado lost to Florida State in overtime in Daytona Beach and lost to Colorado State in Fort Collins. Hopefully, Colorado is still in shambles in 16 days. Arizona State, California, USC, and Oregon each get a crack at the Buffs before the Beavs do, though.

Didn’t manage to stay up for this game. Looking at the comments here and the box score, doesn’t appear that missing this game was the worst thing in the world. Beavers just don’t have the fire power to win games against decent or better teams with a scorer out; yet, they did manage to stay in the game up and til the end. On to the next one.

This was a game that you really had to watch to understand what fell apart. Oregon State is definitely more talented than Washington state. I would not trade rosters with them. Things you won’t see in the box score is that Oregon State should’ve been up by 15 at halftime, and I believe Washington state 8-8 coming out of halftime. Almost zero dribble penetration kept WSU from fouling and kept us off the line (our biggest strength) Had Dexter been playing in this game? And good Dexter shows up, I have no doubt Oregon State wins by 10 points.

Saw alot of the word "IF" in the comments. Let's make it simple IF the Beavs scored 8 more points or IF wazoo scored 8 less we would have won by 1. IF both happened we would have won by 9.

If is a terrible word to use when you’re talking about thing you can control. If is a reasonable word when you talk about things that happen at random. 8-8 coming out of half, pretty random. Macedonian guy getting scorching from 3 pretty random Dexter having a one off injury, also pretty random. Mike and Tyler being 3-15 shooting with 5 rebounds combined…….also incredibly random and rare.

Guys it's time to get real. This is not a good team We played a preseason schedule that for many years we made fun of the ducks for having and went to overtime 3 times at home to inferior teams. People here continually complain about Tinkles horrible Pac 12 record. You think it is bad look at his road record. This team will steal a couple of home wins might steal 1 road win and will win 4-6 games on our way out of the Pac 12.
And there will still be final 8 chatter to save Tinkle

A 7 point game is literally a 3 shot difference, between two teams. There's a lot of inherent "if" in basketball in single digit wins or losses.
