ESPN is now hammering FSU players for opting out. 9 to NFL, 16 Transfers.
Georgia has no NFL opt outs but 21 transfers.
It's like telling a perfect team to suck it may affect player morale or something.

It's a travesty that a one-loss SEC team didnt make the playoff. The top four teams are Alabama, Georgia, Missouri and maybe Michigan. Although maybe you should substitute Ole Miss for Michigan (sarcasm, I'm grumpy - probably should get a beer).

Had FSU made the championship series, I’m wondering how many of the players who opted out for one reason or the other, would have done the same thing. ??

I hope Florida St gets rolled. Because of all of the sit-outs and transfers? If so, I guess you wanted OSU to get rolled yesterday as well?

No, but I have trouble understanding how a competitor could sit this game out. After all the discussion about FSU being left out of the playoffs they get an opportunity to play Georgia. The defending Natl Champion. You have a chance to prove to everybody that you did belong in the Championship. And you opt out? I’m sorry, I just don’t understand it. And no, of course I didn’t want that to happen to the Beavers, but I did post that I was worried that is exactly what would happen.

Thanks Spud for the clarification - I now have a better understanding of your point. Can’t disagree with any of it. Because we find ourselves where we are, regarding the current status of the sport - changes will have to be made. Only question is, will the NCAA, networks, etc figure it out before they pass the point of no return? The NFL is now a shadow of what it once was - different factors, different universe - the only similarities are being tone deaf as to what the fan base wanted to see - and unforced errors. Fans want to see the same players/ team they rooted for during the regular season - not second or third string players, because as starters we are too fragile or special to play in the post season. Try that in the NFL

Try that in the NFL The NFL actively encourages college kids to leave early and opt out of post season. There is no upside to a bowl game that means nothing. Teams hwt paid either way and all you get is to hold a trophy for a bit. This is why a regulation/promotion league where players get base compensation would fit better today. Depending on what level you are at younger better compensation. The upper tier schools are farms for the NFL and the lower level schools are farms for the higher tier teams. There is no pathway for athletes to for success except climbing the ladder as fast as possible. If your school and team can also move up or down levels and your compensation increases it creates a secondary path. Plus it would be way better for fans. At this point the post season is pretty much pointless. Teams get in based on politics and perceived tv draw with a mild caveat for performance. If you don't get in then it's pointless for the athletes past loyalty to your school or honor I guess.

Someone at FSU is rapidly lowering their mythical national championship banner that they were hoisting up a flag pole. They’re proving why they weren’t picked for the playoff.

I think they would have been rolled by Georgia either way but this isn't the same team that went 13-0. Georgia is playing with the team that went 12-1 with the attrition all being in the 2 and 3 deeps. It's all dumb which is why I'm only checking scores and not watching anything.

Georgia is missing their best TE and a starting WR. They would have clobbered FSU even if FSU had a full roster
