It would be a future TV/Media deal.... which will be determined by what quality of teams and media markets are represented in the new Pac-12. I would guess that it would surpass the 30-33% share they are getting in the ACC and save them all that travel money.
Has there been any indication at all that Stanford and Cal even have interest in something like this? Obviously it's not out of the realm of possibility.

If CalFurd comes back to their senses and can get over themselves to rejoin a western conference, and IF we don't give them a full share they will simply be ripe for poaching the next realignment. As others have said, you have to look past the immediate urge for revenge and see the bigger picture. We're better off with them in the tent. I also agree that Cal is much less culpable in all the nonsense so far. Maybe just give Stanford half a share since their idiotic leadership presents an inherent risk for all involved. Not to mention that Stanford also has a $20+ BILLION(!) endowment to muck around with and in.

I find this conversation pretty funny. Give Cal & Furd shares of what? Certainly none of the ~$255 mil they forfeited. And, there is no media contract to divvy up. So exactly what is the "shares" they'll be enticed by?? I’m a simple guy, so I’d say an even share of the new media deal. Having them on board certainly would help considering the Bay Area tv market. Even though only 37 people care, for some reason it still matters.

In my book, you only give them a partial vote on the board. Give them equal amount of future media/post season earnings.
But as far as board votes, I don’t trust them. Give them each a 1/2 vote.
I doubt any of this will happen, but this is what I would do.

Have got to play the long game here. Welcome them back as full partners. Washington and Oregon will be next after a few years. Utah will come back if and when they are given the opportunity. This thing would not have fallen apart if not for hole and Huskies. The media deal that was offered will only look better and better in the rear view mirror.

Hole and Washington are tougher to welcome back. I'd like to see them both have to join the MWC.

And, a deal that actually paid an amount that would mean anything. Who knows the real reasoning behind them leaving, but Cal & Furd made a huge mistake. They are probably hoping FSU is successful in their lawsuit. But, unless some media deal appears there is no where but the ACC for them to draw any money. If Apple was indeed truly interested in getting in to college football/sports you'd think the win by OSU/WSU would trigger a negotiation. Apple could offer a low ball amount (let's say $10-15 mil + incentives). Offer to buy the Pac12 network assets to have equipment and a network already to go. Pick their own home base, hire staff of their choosing and use the next two years as a pretty cheap (as far as media deals go) trial run. From there, after year one or two they could then decide if a Apple "conference" is what they want. If so, they'd have the presence & now background/proof that they are a viable option to invite teams.

How do you know it has not triggered a negotiation?

For such large and prestigious institutions, I am amazed that they make such big decisions without competent legal/business advice. With the loss of USC, UCLA, UW, & The Nike semi-pro team, we are free from the egotistical greedy bastards that have prevented the west from reaching their potential. A conference of the best of the west should be equal to Big 10 or SEC.... and better than ACC or Big 12. TV Markets should serve viewers, not control the leagues. Oregon and USC are going to be professional paid athletes, with UW ready to do the same. I hope they lose their fan base. Bring back Cal, Stanford, UA, ASU, Utah, then add 5 new members. San Diego, Fresno, Boise, UNLV, BYU, or ?? Both Big-10 and SEC know that too many good teams means more losses and lower rankings. FSU went undefeated and their toughest foe was Louisville....not a schedule worthy of final 4 even though undefeated.

what do you mean only 37% of the people care . . city sidewalk dwellers, illegal migrants and people s**ting and peeing on the streets haven't received their smart tv's yet? When they do that number will likely go up.
