Missouri QB Gabarri Johnson is set to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. The Tacoma (Wash.) Lincoln product signed with Missouri last December and redshirted this season for the Cotton Bowl-bound Tigers. He had originally committed to Missouri when Bush Hamdan was the offensive coordinator, but Hamdan eventually left to return to his alma mater, Boise State, to be the offensive coordinator.
Kirby Moore, like Johnson, a Washington native, was hired as the Missouri offensive coordinator and the Tigers ended up in a New Years Six bowl after a 10-2 season. Johnson will likely head back to the West Coast and a school to keep a close eye on for him is Oregon State.
With the Beavers losing their top two quarterbacks, DJ Uiagalelei and Aidan Chiles, to the portal, they're in need of depth.
New offensive coordinator Ryan Gunderson had recruited Johnson when he was at UCLA though the Bruins never pulled the trigger on the offer but Gunderson was high on Johnson and the two could eventually end up together in Corvallis.
Johnson was a four-star on 247Sports in the 2023 rankings, checking in as the No. 22 quarterback nationally and the No. 6 prospect in the state of Washington in 2023.
