Johnson looks like a really good get if this proves to be accurate. Not really worried about his height...ability to get out and hurt defenses with the run is huge nowadays, assuming that there's accurate passing in the mix as well. Seen Murphy play for Texas when starter went down. He would be a really strong add as well. Be incredible if both committed but super happy with Johnson. we had a qb several years ago now who was on the shorter side...Don't recall his name.... Lyle Moevao? He wasn't anywhere near as mobile as this guy. Nor was Benedict Arnold. |

I would say Johnson would bring more of a style like Kyler Murray or Bryce Young did in college.

Malik Murphy from Texas is confirmed to be visiting us as well. Both OSU and UCLA recruited him last year, Gundy is back on him again. We're not getting Murphy. Of the other two teams, one keeps him in Texas and the other is coached by a guy he's known since the fifth grade, iirc. Happy to be proven wrong. Again. |

Maybe we should just focus in on the little guy and make him understand he is our number one interest? If we're also trying for Murphy, who is very high profile in the portal, Johnson probably doesn't understand that. Then go for another portal guy who looks like a sleeper and look for a HS 3 star who could develop. I'm comfortable with shaping an offense around Johnson's skillset. After a year of a 250 pound guy who is fast but not that agile or quick, I am ready for a scrambler. Especially with a new offensive line and system. This Johnson definitel fits the bill. |

Getting the right QB HAS TO BE ABOUT THE MONEY BUT DO WE HAVE THE MONEY? Apparently we had the money last year, and there were still people wanting to start the freshman we pretty much got for free. Together they won fewer games than this year's third stringer and our "crappy, washed out" injured QB did the year before. Money can help, but it's not all about the money. Heck, I'm pretty sure that our QB transfer from Colorado a couple years ago got paid, and he ended up playing so little I can't even remember his name. You get the right fit, there will probably be money involved, but money won't be what dictates the success of the QB in our program. |

Sam Noyer. Screwed up the Purdue game and was benched. Then, played in a little of the Idaho game in garbage time before he started to flame out again and was benched in favor of Sam Vidlak (who plays at Montana now). Outside of the Purdue and Idaho games, I believe that Nolan played every snap in 2021. |
