Well, I'll eat some crow. One of my fears in all this was that the portal would be a one-way street this year with kids leaving and a tough time attracting players to Corvallis. So far it appears I'm very wrong and that's fantastic. The shear number of players looking for a home is staggering. Theres about 1400 players in the portal now. Essentially every D1 team would need to take 10 players for everyone to have a D1 home. Unfortunately a large number of them won’t find a D1 spot to land. |

The high numbers in the portal is a great thing for Oregon State. Imagine if it was slim pickings.
I'm not worried about where all the players will wind up. They are taking a chance on themselves and it will pay off for some and the others might have to return to their schools or possibly accept a drop down in level or whatever.

Doesn't sound like a QB so... Maybe WR? DE?

Angie said it was one of the commits yesterday who were nice but I wouldn’t call it huge. I wonder if she thought Thompson was going to commit and now he’s waiting so she had to maybe say that. Trying to be the first. |

Trying to be the first. Thomas is a really good snag. We actually beat out Texas A&M and Tennessee for him. Probably not "huge" but he is worth a rousing round of high fives. White is solid, while less competition this time around we tried hard for him last year when he was a Juco. We liked him a lot last year, and still like him now. |

I could be wrong, but on the defensive side, Bray's ability to develop and get guys to the NFL has to be one of his selling points in recruiting.

Thomas is a really good get for the Beavers and it's meaningful to beat out some big names for a portal player. I do think the hype got a little overblown, especially on social media. I think a lot of people were kind of misled into thinking it was going to be a "name" QB. Still, can't complain about landing Thomas. And I think the Beavers will get their QB. |
