Why isn't Adlee Blacklock getting minutes? I like Lily but 1-6 with a TO, give half (or more) of those minutes to Blacklock who can knock down the three ball. algernon14, I appreciate your observations in this game, but we need to be fair to both Adlee and Lily. Coming into this game, Lily was shooting .450 from 3. Adlee was shooting .182. Lily only has 3 TO's all season in the 7 games, averaging nearly 19 minutes per game. I will take that anytime. Don't get me wrong, I too am wondering why Adlee isn't getting more of a shot. She was so solid down the stretch last season. I was sure she would be in the top 7-8 in minutes this season, with a good chance at starting. Maybe she'll still get her shot, but Lily is playing her role well. She rarely makes mistakes and is playing solid D. Poor shooting tonight though.

Crazy question, but every game this season, I have had to go to the opposing team's website to get the box score after the game. OSU is being VERY slow about getting it up. Are they short on help this season, or what's up? It's never been a problem in the past. When I last looked 15 minutes or so ago they still had the beavs at 6-0 and no box score. It is up on the Jackson state site. Good to see that on the one night Raegan didn't get her double double, both Rees and Gardiner did. 15 and 15 for Timea. Hopefully tonight was also a sign of Tilia getting her scoring game back. That would be major for this team's progress.

Some thoughts (mostly on the newcomers) after the Jackson State game.....
I am starting to really see growth in the two Freshmen guards - DH and KS are really solid ball handlers, have some good speed up the court, and have enough offensive skills (and scoring mentality) to keep a defender on them and occupied. This could make a huge difference for us in the coming year, especially coupled with TVO in better health, Timea having logged more time with the team, and the addition of Kelsey. What I really enjoyed in tonight's Jackson State game is how the two frosh guards are pushing the ball up the court via the pass. While they may need to temper those long passes against some of the Pac-12 teams, it shows great court vision. I am really curious how the presence of two very solid ball handlers will alter this season, because we have been a bit "down" in that department for a few seasons. TOs have really been an Achille's heel for SR teams in general, I am curious to see the impact of a bit of remediation in that department thanks to KS and DH.
DP is really a great "change of pace" sub for us, brings a lot of energy, speed and scoring mentality to the table. Hopefully injecting her into a game will counter those "scoring lulls" we would suffer last year.
I am seeing some bad habits RB needs to shed in order to not pick up 1-2 "cheap" fouls in the game. Note how if she misses a easy shot early in the game, she will be very aggressive on the rebound, and often commit a reach in or over the back. Also, I'd like to see her pass out (or as another poster suggested, fake out) of a defender tight on her, as she will pivot right into the defender and set herself up for a charge (regardless of whether it's a flop or legitimate, it's adding to her foul total). We need her on the court.
Kelsey was a really solid add, coupled with the solid ball handlers and energizer-off-the-bench DP, really provides a solid front court presence but with the length and skills to play that point-forward role SR like to use.....
Very early in the season, but I would be surprised if this team can't reach the postseason.....
Go Beavers!

That is a beautiful play. She had at least one more play where she saved us a turnover. On the stat sheet she ended up with 4 assists and 0 turnovers, in reality her game was even better than that. She and Donovyn have the potential to make for a tough duo to plan for, they are so different.

TVO explained her games so far this year. She has been concentrating on getting her teammates up to speed so she has been distributing more. But that she needs to get the scoring mentality back for Pac 12 play.
What a great team leader.

Keep an eye out for Sela. One thing I've noticed about Sela is that if you get the ball where she can catch it, it can be a laser throw. She has caught a few really hard passes.

On those "reaching in" fouls that Beers is getting. Yeah, no such fouls exist. The ref's are calling her for the tiny amounts of contact that happens. Whereas Beers got hammered on two occasions with enough force that I could hear the contact and nothing was called against JS.
Anyone else noticing how badly Hunter bites onto head fakes?
Timea is a very different player from Beers, but for this game she had Beer kind of stats.
TVO was getting single coverage for a change, so she could break out of her scoring slump for one game anyway.

Rees continues to really impress me with her outside shooting. She didn’t shoot the 3 much at Utah, but with the way she’s shot it here she’s been the perfect addition for for OSU’s post rotation. Her game complements both Gardiner’s and Beer’s really well.

Rees certainly had the stats last night, but also, I just like watching the great decisions she makes out there on the floor, whether or not she has the ball. Her experience is shining through and she is an absolutely key addition to this roster. She is one smart basketball player.
The new guards are still getting their wheels underneath them, but they are obviously well ahead of schedule. Plus, a healthy Timea has become an absolute force.
All this has resulted in the Beavs being a much improved team this year - one that is far more fun to watch.

Well spoken, and thoughtful.

Really great observations by everyone. Looking forward to seeing how we match up to Santa Clara. Will be a great test for OSU.
