Still sitting at 3 turnovers for the season. Some fans may not impressed, and at least one is a total jackass, but I personally think it is a very impressive start for a freshman. Hell, it's impressive no matter what class she is in.

I wonder if part of the lack of TOs is caution. Talia is a far more creative passer, finding openings that others don't find, and that creativity leads to turnovers, as well as points we might not otherwise get. There is a balance between the two instincts -- caution and aggression -- that each player must find for herself.

Noticed what? If you are responding to another person’s post it works best to use the “quote” function (like I did here). Otherwise you’re just barking at the moon.

That could be but I'll take a cautious 7.67 assists over turnover ratio versus more creative passes that lead to steals for the other team.

Any of our learned Beaver fans have a clue as to when (or if!) Talia will ever get back to shooting well again?

Any of our learned Beaver fans have a clue as to when (or if!) Talia will ever get back to shooting well again? Before the last game, at the end of warmups, she was moving around the full perimeter of the 3 pt line and hitting every one - nothing but net. She's not one to shoot quickly and often won't shoot unless she has significant time to do so. I think it's all in her head - she's just thinking too much about being in a slump.

I have no worries about TvO. TvO is going to be teacher to the young ones (who haven't experienced PAC-12 type teams). OSU WBB has the luxury this season to have TvO play whatever role is needed to help the team get the "W". And I believe TvO knows, and is playing this role. Where I think she will help us get more wins is by being able to play "freely" and not have to be the one who must score for us to win, but will still score when the opportunity is there. This season TvO is doing many things well including assisting, defense, making free throws, and rebounding.

Thank you for your well thought out and stated answer to my query.
I certainly hope you are correct.
TvO is a "shining beacon of quality and commitment" in the current insane asylum of college athletics, and deserves to have a truly great season! Go Beavs!

After years of this board complaining about the number of OSU turnovers and a perceived lack of a "real" point guard, we have a Freshman with the best A/TO ratio in the whole country, and we're worried that she might be too cautious? If a good A/TO ratio was as simple as just being careful, there would be many players out there with that performance. I understand that this performance could change when we face tougher opponents later in the season, but can't we just be delighted that we have a player who is performing better than we could have ever hoped for in her first 6 collegiate games?
And as for TVO, please remember that she "almost" had a triple double in just 22 minutes of play time against UMBC (7 pts, 8 assists, 7 rebounds). She may not be showing the big scoring numbers seen in some games in the past, but she is doing things to make her team and teammates better.

There is a balance between the two instincts -- caution and aggression -- that each player must find for herself. I agree that TVO is an excellent passer. IMO she's a way more effective passer in the half court offense (not playing the point guard role) and when she takes care of the ball, as in using two hands to pass. She can be very creative but those one-handed passes are just sloppy and too often wind up as turnovers. I would add that I think she's the best and most consistent on the team at getting the ball inside to Beers in the half court offense.

Mik Pivec is playing in Spain, her team, Casademont Zaragoza, she gets in for a few mins and scores some. This looks like a much more competitive league than the Aussie one we saw recently. A team schedule: www.flashscore.com/team/casademont-zaragoza/v9S5NUIt/Just search YouTube for her team and going forward I expect to see her a lot: The good news, the video quality is good and an older game for this team had English language announcers, not this one though. The bad news, the guy with the drum shows up again in the audience.
