If Smith leaves, it's not going to be just for the money.A big part of it will be determined by how he views the future of the program. Hard for me to believe OSU is just going to have a bunch of truly good (proven) candidates waiting in the wings if that's the case. Obviously they'd be able to hire someone and bringing in a new coach is always something that comes down to chance but it would be far from the best circumstances.  |

No, but OSU was not coming off three straight winning seasons and consistent ranking in the past two, etc. In many people's eyes the program had bottomed out. And while Smith was unproven as far as head coaching experience, his ties to OSU and the prevailing notion among people in and around the OSU football program that he was almost destined to be a head coach were big reasons to take a step that would most likely not be taken otherwise. If OSU was still the Pac-12 (moving forward) and Smith took another job, do you think the Beavers would be looking at a lot of unproven candidates? There would be ample outstanding candidates for this job. Check out the candidate field for Boise State. We're a better job than BSU. Some just can't help being gloom & doom no matter the prevailing evidence, or lack thereof. |

He loves turmoil to get clicks or to tune into his talk show. Warning .....stay away from him this week. He likes to double down on others anguish. How it the heck did this state get someone like Canzano. Talks out of both sides of his mouth at every turn. No friend of the program yet plays Barnes like a fiddle with "Buddy ole pal"...... interviews . |

He loves turmoil to get clicks or to tune into his talk show. Warning .....stay away from him this week. He likes to double down on others anguish. How it the heck did this state get someone like Canzano. Talks out of both sides of his mouth at every turn. No friend of the program yet plays Barnes like a fiddle with "Buddy ole pal"...... interviews . If I were a coach or AD I'd be very guarded when talking with Canzano after his Andersen articles. Andersen wasn't guarded at times, said a bunch of stuff he probably shouldn't have. |

For the moment. Maybe. I don't think potential candidates are going to be unaware of the current situation OSU is in and would take pause when considering why Smith would leave. Again, IMO no way he would leave for more money alone. Hell, lets not act like Bray wouldn't be on the shortlist himself... Lets not forget he was head coach of Nebraska once!!! Not Bray, supposedly he doesn't want to be a head coach. Lindgren for sure. |

There were OSU fans who were calling for Lindgren to be fired after the UW loss. Not that I agree at all (IMO it was ridiculous) but I also don't think he's exactly a top level candidate. |

He goes with the tide......he is no one's friend. He is simply looking for clicks. |

Not that I agree at all (IMO it was ridiculous) but I also don't think he's exactly a top level candidate. We are averaging 37 points per game. Fans calling for him to be fired are idiots. |
