Who is the real Santa Clara? The one that demolished Oregon, or the one who lost to Cal by 15? They also have wins over San Jose St. and Hawaii by 8 and 11 point margins. I suspect the UO game was very much an outlier. It would be interesting to know what happened for that game. In the past there have been some weird dynamics on the UO team... could be about anything.

Yeah SCU was incredibly hot shooting in that game, but that doesn't explain Oregon only scoring 50. The players have been coming and going with great frequency the last 3 or 4 years, but something seems a bit off every year. Can't pin it on any player/players in particular.
edit--not too mention many of their former players seem to have quite a bit more success when they go elsewhere

Santa Clara was unbelievably hot shooting. That kind of performance isn't likely to happen again. And the ducks couldn't make a basket. Gravy has been able to get top notch players to sign on. He just hasn't been able to get them to work together. The precedent he set with i has come back to haunt him, all his 5* players expect to get their way and when they don't they turn toxic to the team moral. One other issue is that they all love offense but don't like putting the effort in on defense. They may do better on other teams because they are highlighted.

Santa Clara currently in a tight battle w/ Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. So, yeah. Corpus Christi is 2-2 but the 2 wins are against never heard of them before kind of schools that have to 2 D2 or D3.

I think Santa Clara is better than most of us think. Cal is the only team to score more than 54 points on them. Their opponents totals in their 4 wins, 47,51,39,50,54. That combined with good 3pt shooting makes for a team that may well win a lot of games. I might also add that this exactly the type of team that gives the Beavs problems. Teams that can shoot the 3 and limit your scoring. I hope the Beavs are prepared for that game. They beat the ducks in Eugene. In their loss to Cal, they gave up 71pts, but they were ahead at the half, and were within 5 with 8 minutes to go when the wheels fell off.
I think Cal may be better than we're thinking as well. Take a look at their 5 starters individually. They added a starter from Gonzaga (Williams) and added Suarez, who started 14 games her freshman year at Tennessee, and appears to be a star on the rise at Cal. Cal's victory over Auburn was on the road, and they are 5-0 in the early going.
Santa Clara is playing Boise State on Friday. That's a game to pay attention to. Cal is playing San Jose St, and then likely Texas A&M this weekend. I expect Cal to keep on rolling, these games may be telling on who the real "Cal" is.

Donovan’s ankle doesn’t appear to be bothering her.

without either/or Talia and/or AJ on the court, Beavs offense is pretty stagnant so far. Raegan playing high post at times, kinda odd. Beavs trail after 1 Q 17-15.

Once again the live stream is awful. 5 minutes of game time and no one notices the radio feed is turned off.

Nothing like a 17-0 run to get things 'right'

They have nothing to go up against Beers. Total domination under the hoop.

They have nothing to go up against Beers. Total domination under the hoop. 14 points and 8 rebounds in 17 minutes. Very efficient.

Callan’s radio call is available on the Varsity app.
Beavs outscore Retrievers 27-6 in the 2nd quarter.

Raegan is an animal. She is playing smart.
Kelsey is a great pick up. She is solid on both ends of the court.
Donovyn is growing right in front of us. Her defense was never bad but she is on another level from just a couple games ago.
Talia has become our utility player, quietly does what it takes.
