I watched a bit of the St John's MBB game tonight. They played Stony Brook and won by 16 points. Glenn Taylor Jr didn't start but he was one of the first off the bench. He went 1-2 and scored 3 points in 18 minutes. I'm just gonna say this: the talent level between OSU and St John's was kinda shocking and it's gonna be a adjustment for him. He looked like the 5th wheel on a wagon as they ran their offense. Hope it was worth the NIL money. Rick Pitino has a talented team that will likely make the NCAA, so maybe it will work out for GTJr.
Also go to watch Cruz Davis. If that name sounds familiar, it's because he was a Beaver commit at one time back in 2021. He ended up decommitting and wound up at Iona, then followed Coach Pitino to St John's. Cruz made some nice passes and finished with a decent stat line: 5 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists and 1 steal. With the talent level at St John's rising, I don't know if either player will crack the starting lineup. I saw at least 2 NBA players on the floor for the Red Storm tonight.
Wishing nothing but the best to both.

Watching St John’s winning by 14 over Creighton with 3 left. Taylor hasn’t been playing much of late, but he’s got 4 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal with no TOs today. Playing good D too.

Just like ASU beating Wazzu after the Cougs won at Arizona. Georgetown sucks. Should have lost at DePaul yesterday and DePaul is downright horrible.

GT Jr. having a game right now on CBS Sports Net.
His jumper release is odd. Seems very low.

Now 5, to close out the regular season. If they could play 9-22 Georgetown and 3-27 DePaul every game they'd never lose. Which accounts for three games of their amazing five-game win streak.

So bitter. You play who’s in front of you. Plus you came up with excuses for the good teams too. DePaul is a classic case of being done in by nepotism. Instead of hiring the best available coach when Ray Meyer retired the hired his son. They’ve been in the s%#tter ever since.

Guess I'd rather be "bitter", which I'm not, that be totally ignorant of Chicago basketball history. Joey Meyer coached at DePaul for 13 seasons, from 1985 until 1997. He led the team to SEVEN NCAA berths, two Sweet 16s, two second rounds. He also went to three NITs, when that was a much better tournament than it is today. His lifetime record was 231-158 (.593). He won 20 or more games six times. Postseason in 10 of 13 seasons. All that without an on-campus arena and horrible facilities. Take away his final two seasons, when he had lost his fastball and he was 217-117 (.650). Yeah, he really killed the program. St. John's beat Creighton, a good team. St. John's beat Butler, an average team. St. John's beat Georgetown twice, a horrible team, and DePaul one, a dreadful team. Yes, you play who you play. But getting excited about that five-game win streak is like getting excited about a five-game win streak against the Kansas City Royals. Let's hear from the peanut gallery. Anyone think seven NCAAs and three NITs in your first 11 seasons as coach is "killing the program?"

I’d much rather be ignorant about Chicago basketball, but I did go to a Bulls game with Jordan in the old Chicago stadium. Joey Meyer wasn’t as good as his dad, record wise, but yes, I mis-remembered. On the bright side I have one skill required for politics!
