Up by 3 at half. Donovyn’s defense is really good. AJ’s in a boot. Lily has hit three 3’s.

We were behind most of the first half. Playing very tight, a lot of shots coming up short. Donovyn is a push up the court first player. Kennedie has not played point enough to know about her game. TVO is good on the defensive end but has not got into the rhythm on the other end. So far I've really liked what I've seen from Kelsey.
On a positive note, they have Aleah on one side of Jonas and Devan on the other. I've seen more coaching on the bench from these two than pretty much all last year.

Came out in the third and dominated, 62-34. Donovyn playing significant minutes at the point and holding her own.
Really like Kelsey's game. She could end up getting a lot of minutes

Final 80-43. Held them to just 13 pts in the second half Thank you for the updates ! Does it look like the PG position, at this very early juncture, is Donovyn's to lose? Who else played PG ? Martha? Kennedie? Did TVO play point at times?

Marta probably got the most minutes at point but Don was outstanding. Her defense was stellar. No TVO at point. First half was trying to get playing together. The Vikings came out with a bunch of rainbows and a good defense, forcing 9 turnovers from the Beavers in the first half. Second half we settled down, torqued up defense made some steals and finally got the inside game going.

Lily’s defense was much improved and we were a lot more agressive going after the ball. Kennedie does a nice job boxing out when a shot goes up.

Western Washington was actually a well-coached, fairly experienced team (4 juniors and 2 seniors) with some very good players. They didn’t go deep on the bench (in contrast to the Beavers) and I think we wore them down. I think Scott reminded them at the half of weapons they have (Raegan and Adlee in particular) and in the run in the 3rd quarter they took it to heart. I agree 100% with the comments on Kelsey Rees… she was very good addition; she moves well and is skilled under the basket. Sela Heide played in the 4th quarter and did okay when she wasn’t thrown the ball in a crowd (trouble handling two entry passes). Lily wasn’t shy about shooting and hit some 3’s, but not at a very good percentage. Adlee is definitely still our best shooter. Donovon is a great 1-1 defender - she can harass others the way our guards have often been harassed against the good teams. Talia is totally a team player; she really looks to get the ball to the best option even though she is quite capable of putting up more points. She had one of her sweet moves to the basket, hanging in the air for an ‘and-1’ and made some nice passes. Timea looked good going to the basket with a sweet move for a lay-up and ‘and-1’ in the first half. Her shooting percentage wasn’t great, but she hit at least one 3 in the 2nd half as I recall (most scoring was around the basket). I really like Dominique; very good moves to the basket and a nice finisher, though she didn’t shoot well in this game; and, as advertised, she has a nose for the ball on the rebounds. Kennedy Shuler made at least one nice drive to the basket; she has a strong build that reminds me of Hailey Van Lith. We are definitely much better off at guard this year!

I was so impressed with our 3 freshmen. Each of them are already solid defenders. The biggest positive surprise for me is Dominika. This kid shows no nerves, and can really defend. Lily's defense was excellent tonight. I saw multiple times one of our guards harassed the ball and forced them to pick up their dribble, and multiple times where we then doubled and tied up the ball. Defense was really good in the 2nd half.
Kelsey Reese was also a pleasant surprise. Not the strongest, but played solid which we need in the middle. TvO played very well, and it is so nice that she doesn't have to carry our team. We have multiple scoring options now, including from the bench.
Martha did a solid job at the point today. Handled the ball well, and even had some solid scoring.
I thought Timea Gardiner had a rough day. Seemed lost on defense in the 1st half, but better in 2nd half. Didn't have her touch today shooting the ball.
Raegan was awesome as usual. What a great player.
Compared to where we were last year at this time, we have a much better team, and many solid performers for our coaches to mix and match.
