Though A.J. was in a boot, I don’t think it is serious. She was practically running in it at one point.

One thing I didn't like about the last couple years was the lack of coaching on the bench. I really liked how Mandy and then Katie worked with the players during the game. It freed Rueck up to coach the game. The positions on the bench were consistently Rueck's chair, Jonas, Jenny, and then Deven. The players followed down the row.
Today Rueck had his chair, which he very seldom uses it and then an open chair. Next was Aleah, Jonas, and then Deven. The seat beside Deven and the one beside Aleah was used for her to talk to players. Aleah had Kennedie and Donovyn in that chair a lot. She also had the other guards there when she had something to coach them on. Deven worked with Raegan, Timea, and Kelsey. I hope it continues.

Didn't see the game, so comments come from what we saw last season, what we've heard from Italy and preseason, comments from posters, and the box score tonight. Not happy that Martha had 4 TO's, but other than that, her stats were excellent. Martha was the Beavs best guard at using screens last year, and that was a strength of Aleah's, so I think we'll see Martha getting solid minutes this season, whether that is as a starter, or coming off the bench. Starters were what we would expect, especially since AJ wasn't available. It was good to see everyone play so many minutes and get a chance to show what they can do. Obviously Western Washington is not at the talent level the Beavs will be facing, but with a lineup of Seniors and Juniors they were a good team to play in this exhibition. It does look like Rees will get more playing time with the Beavs than she did at Utah. I think we'll see her and Raegan on the floor quite a bit together much like we did with Raegan and Jelena last season. Everything about Dom screams Mik. I'm not saying she has, or will end up, with all the skills Mik had, but I do think she will be given a shot and I hope she takes advantage of it. I'm still standing by my comments that this freshman class is underrated. I love that Talia seems to have improved her overall game both last year and going into this year. It was obvious that she was hurting last year and couldn't shoot or drive as she did in the past. Six assist today was great, but I would still like to see some of the old Talia who could shoot lights out and take her defender to the hoop. I still think there will be some games that the Beavs will need her to take over. I hope she is up for it. Now, on to the real season.....Go Beavs!

First half was very tight, HESITANT, and so many projected passes. Every player would half step, stutter step, fake pass, etc. It was not pretty. It seemed to me the team has practiced with each other so much that they were sloppy when playing real time.
Halftime adjustments cleaned up a lot of the hesitation. Still lots of ball sharing and I felt that some of the guards could have just driven to the basket but they would circle out and pass.
Defensive intensity in second half was great. Lots of steal and forced tie ups. Loved seeing freshmen get after it.
Agree that Dom has some serious Mik vibes.
GO BEAVS.

I think the “old Talia” was a product of playing with Aleah. Her first year (when she should have been in HS) was amazing. I think two reasons for that; 1) She wasn’t on anybody’s scouting report, but more importantly, 2) She had no pressure and no real responsibility. Aleah did much of the work and it just freed Talia up to just play and use her skills and talent. The challenge with this roster is that the PG’s are young and inexperienced. They simply don’t have the experience or knowledge (they do have skill) that will allow Talia to play the way that she used to. The Talia that we all recall as outstanding. The one that shot lights out and scored 12-15 points per night. The key for this coaching staff is to figure out how to use Talia, while the PG’s gain experience. They likely won’t get to where Aleah was that first year for Talia, but they can hopefully get to a point that will take all pressure off of her. I am hopeful.

2200 sounds pretty good to me for a non-counting exhibition game, regardless of day/time.

It was free, early enough not to effect next day... If have thought more families and kids would have attended. What was last season's exhibition attendance?

My memory is that it's always around 2000 Can anyone believe that hole had more than 5,000 at their exhibition game according to their box score sheet. Yeah right. We would have to verify it with photos.
