Don’t look now - ASU hanging with the doogs. The Penix spit two interceptions. Doogs just fumbled it away as well. Hope it rains at Reser vs the Dawgs. Pennix looks lost. And there D is much like Oregon's last season... fast/athletic but can't handle the power run game! PS- does this Jeff Levering(?) doing pbp for ASU @ UW sound like Jerry Allen to anyone else?

Agreed. He looks rough in the face of adversity tonight.

As long as they both keep winning, the win over Utah looks better and better for the Beavers every week!

By the way, are announcers supposed to pretend that defenses don't sometimes let offenses score?
It was super obvious to me, with 1:46 left, and USC on the Utah 11-yard line, with two timeouts left, that Utah's best chance to win was probably to let USC score immediately. When the play was run, two Utah defenders made feeble efforts to reach out and touch Caleb Williams, but not actually slow him down. Brock Huard commented that when he saw Utah's alignment he couldn't believe it because they were just inviting USC to run this play. And I was thinking, yeah, duh, they were inviting them to run that play and they didn't try to stop him from scoring.
The game announcers never even conjectured that maybe Utah had let him score. But, as I said, it seemed obvious to me. And then, in the halftime show of the UW/ASU game, they showed that play and all they said was it was a great play call. Again, no comment on the obvious strategy by Utah to let USC score and give themselves enough time to come down and kick a field goal for the win.

And that's probably the last super high-profile game the Utes will ever play. There is absolutely nobody in the 2024 Big 12 that can match USC's tradition and national profile, or a venue like the Coliseum. Maybe future games with Oregon and Washington have some hype but I think the Ducks are going to smoke them. Utah vs. Cincy, Iowa State, West Virginia, Okie State, Kansas State or anyone else from that league just doesn't have the sizzle at all. The Big 12 is just meh to me. Yeah, Utah is gritty, they have a great coach, yada yada yada. We've beaten them 2 of the last 3 and absolutely dominated them this year. “Ever?” Who knows? OK, how about "probably?" I despise USC. But games against them were always huge. Reser in 2006 and 2008 was absolutely bonkers when we defeated them, bigger than any game I can remember. The upper deck was literally rocking. It was huge for us to finally beat them in LA two years ago. They MIGHT play one of the eight non-Big Ten current Pac-12 teams in the future, but it won't be a high-stakes conference game like tonight. TV networks and ADs don't care about that though, it's all about the Benjamins. BTW, what do you call a necklace of 100$ bills? Aretha Franklins.

I heard it as: What do you call a Xmas decoration made of $100 bills?

Freaking ASU... get 4 tos and only 7 pts!!
Just doesn't bode well... effing foul ball walk off HR leading to the game ending K!
Lol... almost a great one handed catch for TD. Cuz there was obvious holding of the shoulder pad and the other arm being held!!
ASU should be 1st and goal, prob 14-3 lead. That was a homer of all homers!

They weren’t trying too hard. Played defense like mad on the 2 pointer though……..hmmmmmm.

2nd obvious PI in the end zone. This time flag thrown then picked up.
ASU getting screwed.

UW offense with a paltry 3 field goals. Penix didn’t like the pressure that ASU brought and was pissing down his leg. Lucky for him the D bailed him out.

Combo of refs, Dillinger foregoing FGs, crap FG unit, slip by WR on in cut leading to pick 6. Should a, could a been 16-6 with UW having to score a TD on their last drive and onside. But, what we saw was UW is not a CFP team... at least tonight vs a 1-6 ASU team on the road.

Perhaps sparky gave us a blueprint for when the mutts visit next month. Hopefully the officials will call it fair. They sure seemed to be on UW's payroll when it mattered last night.

Kyle Whittingham with an all-time quote:
"They've got a Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback, so they're gonna make some things, and that's just the way it is. But we've got ourselves a pig farmer at quarterback, so we're proud of that guy, too."
He's a very good coach. I suspect I'll like him and Utah more when they're in the Big 12 and we don't play them every year.
