www.mercurynews.com/2023/09/08/pac-12-chaos-washington-state-oregon-state-take-legal-action-against-the-conference-over-control-of-assets-voting-rights/"The presidents of Washington State and Oregon State are taking the Pac-12 to court in order to gain clarity on voting rights and control of assets as the collapse of a century-old college sports institution veers toward an internecine feud. The only remaining members of the Pac-12 as of next summer, WSU and OSU filed a joint complaint Friday in Whitman County (Washington) Superior Court that seeks to determine the makeup of the Pac-12 board of directors following the announced departures of 10 schools, according to documents obtained by the Hotline. The Pac-12 and commissioner George Kliavkoff are the named defendants."

Sad we had to do this instead of everyone obviously realizing the point, but good for us to protect ourselves.

Where will they find 9 unless they assume USC and UCLA are still voting members. They only have 8 unless they can flip the Beavs or the Cougs....

That's the whole thing...the commish was supposedly calling a meeting with USC, UCLA and all the others to have "votes" about things... George needs to be immediately deposed. He is no longing serving the interests of the remaining PAC-2. Oh, and hey, we have the votes to do it!

If you we get left holding the bag, then it's only right that we get what is in the bag.

Assuming 75-80% is enough to pass a vote, they would still have enough to bypass OSU and WSU...IF... the lawsuits find the conference bylaws invalid. I'd think it all basically pivots on whether or not the bylaws are found to be legally valid.

If he really intends to let others vote, and this gets legally blocked, his job abilities should be limited at the very least. Does the conference have an official #2 person to step in? They could actually be worse, but they'd be alerted to the fact that 10 of the 12 schools are not the schools the PAC is bound to represent as far as the future goes.

After reading Murthy's statement, it sounds to me like it's almost setting the stage for a future damages lawsuit if OSU and WSU are found to be the only legit voting members.

Pac-12 will demand it gets moved, or appeal to federal court after a ruling, but I can't imagine any Whitman County Judge siding with the other 10 schools. Notice they didn't file in BENTON county... Knowing Benton County they WOULD side with the other 10 schools wilkyisdashiznit, what are the Pac-12 and Georgie Porgies options in terms of moving venue or later appeals?
