Jeff Passan
@jeffpassan
The San Francisco Giants are calling up outfielder Wade Meckler, sources tell ESPN. He started the year in High-A and this will be his fourth stop. He was an eighth-round pick in 2022 and is just the fourth player to make the big leagues, with the three others Los Angeles Angels.

What a meteoric rise - only the 4th player from his class to make it to the Show!

Quickly becoming my favorite beaver baseball player of all time. Beavers are the hardest working creature in the animal kingdom

That's absolutely incredible. Amazing how.much grit that dude has. He was heavily encouraged to transfer for playing time and was the size of a wet dish rag. Now he's MLB outfielder.

I think that Ben Joyce was second on May 28th, although Joyce. Joyce only pitched five times before he was shut down on June 10th with ulnar neuritis. I believe that Victor Mederos was third on June 30th. Those are the Angels' First, Third, and Sixth Round selections. As a note, the Angels' Fifth Round selection was Sonny DiChiara, still playing AA ball. Meckler is the first player drafted beyond the Sixth Round in 2022 to get promoted to The Show.

That is why I am a baseball expert. Lmao. The first times that I saw Kwan or Meckler I would have bet big that neither player would even be a factor at OSU let alone MLB players. Totally amazing.
