Meck leading off today, has a hit already. Now hitting .333, time to move his up again 😜 He is in a weird spot for Rookie of the Year honors. As I understand it, if Meckler gets to 131 ABs, this is his rookie season. He is already at 9 ABs with 41 games plus the rest of the game against the Rays. 122 ABs over 41 games is fewer than 3 ABs a game. It is hard to see anyone catching Corbin Carroll over the final seven weeks.

Or was it not, because it hit the brick first? In any instance, that is a tough play to make no matter what.

Here is what sixth-year major leaguer and future All-Star and World Series Champion Dexter Fowler did with a similar bounce:
Center at Oracle is a tough place to play.

Many fans fall prey to thinking the computer generated strike zone is actually accurate. To some degree, yes. www.closecallsports.com/2019/09/the-2d-tv-computer-strike-zones-3d.html?m=1But, there is a varying MOE cir the system depending on many factors. The 2021 Zona Fall league was a fiasco. Any ball that crossed thru the zone Any time was a strike in many cases. Just as camera view/angles vary a look, it can't also give the 3rd dimension of depth. Many pitches on a TV view are greatly distorted. A great ump is just that, but they all will make bad calls. It's part of the game, like bad pitches, errors, etc. You just hope that better consistency can be developed. The day MLB adopts AI type ball & strike calls is the day I never watch again... TV or in person. You can't stop progress. It's going to happen. All the old guys that stopped watching when they started throwing over hand, moved the mound back to 60.5 feet, lowered the mound, implemented the DH, changed the extra innings rule, made the DH universal, added pitch clocks, limited the times the pitcher can throw over and enlarged the bags werent missed. You won't be either. Hey hey now...I draw the line at the universal DH. It's a move just to spark more offense because media types like that. Gone are the days when a pitcher wouldn't be so bold to brush back hitters knowing they'd face pitches later in the game. It eliminated a very entertaining part of strategy in the NL. Next thing you know, you'll want to ban the eephus too! Just because it's old, doesn't automatically mean it's bad.

Matt McLain is catching up to him, but will suffer the same problem that hurt Adley last year: McLain wasn't called up until May 15, so even if his WAR or rate stats surpass Carroll, his counting stats likely won't be as impressive.
