I'm still in shock and denial.
Here's what I can't get over...nobody is happy! Nobody likes how this turned out! Even USC and UCLA have shown reluctance with their move, like it's a necessary evil.
That's all this whole mess is...one long string of necessary evils, one after another after another...
All driven by the puppetmasters at the TV networks.
Why? Why do we have to do their bidding? Who tf put them in charge? Where is the NCAA commissioner? Do we even have one?
It just feels like so much has changed in what schools are willing to accept, that I can't help but wonder if some renewed negotiations amongst all PAC-12 teams might bear fruit.
Suddenly, nobody cares about equal shares of TV revenue...as long as they get SOMETHING. That attitude would have made a HUGE difference in how any PAC-12 TV deal was negotiated.
What if we offered USC and UCLA $70m to stay in the PAC, while OSU and WSU bring up the bottom end with $20m each, with a sliding scale between these two extremes for the other schools, based on TV viewership? At this point, I'd take that deal in a frickin' heartbeat! The haves are already way richer, so there's nothing new being the underdogs on that front...
I just can't yet accept that everything that's transpired is actually going to come to pass.
I'm still holding out hope that we'll all be Bob Newhart waking up from a dream in the last episode (how's that for dating myself?)
Somebody please stop the madness!

No way in hell will that discrepancy in payment fly. Nor should it.
If that amount from pac12 network was offered we probably wouldn't be talking about this now.

It's crazy. I went through all the phases of grief, denial, anger, bargaining, depression... I'm fully in acceptance now.
It is what it is.
I believe we're going to end up in the Big 12. Ideal? Hell no. We're losing a lot of history.
s%#t I grew up with, s%#t I played for.
Evidently they don't care.
We do.
But now is the time to go make some new history.
f%#* these clowns who've looked down on our amazing institution, the incredible fans and our outstanding athletics for far too long. Let's show them what we can do.
We have a lot to offer and wherever we land, which I firmly believe will be the Big 12, we're gonna kill it.
And the rewards are going to be so much sweeter because we had to fight for it. We had to earn it.
Let's take a minute to think about what we've lost, always cherish it.
Then flush that and show these assholes what they're missing out on.
We're not gonna survive.
We're gonna thrive.

If the big 12 decides to expand by 2 teams it will be stanford and cal that get the invite. They have shown interest in them and deny any interest in OSU and WSU.

Cal is in a lot of debt. Maybe they just sit their asses on the P12 and let everyone leave then pocket the money.
Pretty sure that has a shelf life but whatever.

I've realized Ive been in a s%#tty mood since the Pac fell apart......I put a lot into Beaver sports......maybe too much. I'm around ducks and I can't hardly stand to be around em. I surely do not want to have a convo about all this......it just pisses me off all over again.
The reality is this is all driven by the SEC, and to a lesser extent the B1G. It's just a different world. I think there will be a lot more fall out and changes until this is all sorted out. I've given into the fact that we will be in some sort of lesser division. We likely won't be able to keep Smith around for long. The money just won't be there unless this whole mess wakes up some really rich OSU donors who care about sports.......maybe the BS this puts student athletes thru will get some money flowing?
After the dust settles I think we will be ok in whatever conference we are in. We just probly won't be in with the "Big Boys."......and we surely don't want to keep a yearly game with the assholes to the south. IMO, it'll be too emotional......I just don't see it as a good thing moving forward..... especially if we had to go to autzen every time...so let's kick their asses one last time and move on.

I think you need to give Beaver fans grace.....we all grieve differently. Some of us hold on to things that maybe aren't going to happen......but, with all the lying, and posturing that's happened how can you blame people for holding on?

Stewart Mandel's mailbag article today. Sums it up pretty well.
Do the media companies understand what makes fans love college football? This isn’t the NFL, where you move a team to another market and the fans remain. Oregon State fans will never be Oregon fans, FSU/Miami fans will never root for UF, and so on. The passion in college football that comes from the rivalries, pageantry and tradition is very real. If you tear the soul out, NFL Sundays are already right there. — Anomymous
When I picture the type of fan the TV execs are thinking about when they make these big deals, it’s not an Oregon State dad and his son who go to Reser Stadium together on Saturdays, then come home and watch the Pac-12 late game. They’re picturing a New York Giants fan in Queens who can’t name a single current college player and could give two craps about Oregon State, but if they see Ohio State is playing USC on a Saturday, they’ll stop what they’re doing for an hour and watch.
And there are millions more Giants fans in Queens or Patriots fans in Southie than there are Oregon State or Washington State fans in the entire United States.
Depressing, but true.

Until all hope of going to the Big 12 is gone, that's what I'm pulling for. Particularly now that it looks as if that $420 million pot of gold is mostly a mirage. Joining the MWC will have a drastic financial effect on OSU sports. At some point, that will cause change that is not for the good. Favorite athletes will leave. Favorite sports may be cut. Coaches will bail. Those who want it to happen because it's easier to travel to Fresno State or Boise State and you think it will be fun for the Beavers to play in the MWC will probably get their wish in the long run. But if you think OSU is automatically going to dominate, you're in for a rude awakening. Make no mistake, this would be a step down for OSU. So yeah, I refuse to give in because we all still have a chance to wake from it.
