Until this is done who knows what the actual dollar amount will be.
My wild guess is whoever came up with the $12 million short heard a number for "partial" media rights.
Maybe the CW offered 20 million a school for Tuesday/Wednesday tier 2 games? If they did, that's not a horrible start. If it was for tier one games that's not such a good deal. Last July ESPN was rumored to have offered 24.5 million a school for tier one games and the league turned it down. While that deal is supposedly dead, nothing says something similar might be in the cards later.
Seems to me if the rights to tier one games are secured in the 20-25 million a school, and the other games get secured in at 15-20 million a school in some mix of linear and streaming, the Pac 12 could be well ahead of the game.
Just saying, someone out there is tossing out a number that would require knowledge of every fricken deal the Pac 12 has in the works. It ain't over until all the contracts are signed.

More rumors about Colorado bolting to the Big 12.
Exchanging Colorado for SDSU would not be all that bad a thing for the Pac. SDSU is better in football and men's basketball, has baseball, softball, women's swimming and men's soccer, which CU doesn't, and most/all the Pac has. SDSU is in the league's traditional geographic footprint and has a history with Utah as its football rival, dating back to Utah's MWC days.
Colorado has so few sports in common with the rest of the league it's already almost like an affiliate member. If they're so anxious to play West Virginia and Central Florida and Cincinnati, let 'em.

SDSU is fine for a swap with CU, but it's still losing a big TV market instead of just adding San Diego.

According to this we should know by end of day tomorrow:
Although McMurphy is often all over the place, he's saying his source is 98% certain it's a yes. IF the Pac manages to stay together, that may not be horrible if it's ONLY Colorado and if they can replace them with SDSU.
But any other schools and it's going to be a tough hill to climb.

SDSU is fine for a swap with CU, but it's still losing a big TV market instead of just adding San Diego. Seems to me there was an article a month or so ago saying the Pac 12 Presidents had approved expansion talks with SDSU, SMU AND CSU. The approval was for talks, not offers. I’m assuming CSU is the backup plan if Colorado bolts.

Well, if Colorado is really about to leave, this is a bad sign. No faith in George K at this point. The communication around the whole TV deal has been terrible, but I was hoping solid work was being done behind the scenes. At this point, I'm beginning to doubt it. Obviously concerned about OSU in the long run. If UO & UW do get snapped up by the Big 10 once all the shuffling is done, that could leave the Beavs in a bad place.

This is almost the exact same story as the last time that Colorado held a Board of Regents meeting back in June. Brett McMurphy is a Big 12 hack. Some of the other reporting makes me think that there might be smoke behind McMurphy's nonsense, though.
Having said that, there is 0% chance that the Big 12 takes just one team. So, who's the other, and where is the reporting on that team? And is there a third?
George K sucks. His hiring was pennywise and dollar foolish. It has been a dumpster fire since, and the Big 12 is doing what they can to pour gasoline on the whole thing. The Big 12 still believes that they can pull one out of the fire by merging 3-4 Pac-12 teams into the Big 12.

The Beavs are screwed if any other teams leaves the Pac12. Our league is circling the drain, and no others are going to want us. I feel sick.

"SanDiego State will continue to be a member in good standing through the 23-24 season" SDSU was attempting to get the league to accept their notification to leave without additional penalty for giving notification after a specific date. The league said no. Perhaps they have compromised on a deal for a lower penalty? I don't think it was about leaving as it was about the actual notification date.

I believe the SDSU deal was just that they stay in the MWC for now and only have to pay the MWC's legal fees rather than a full exit fee. If they get offered by the Pac-howevermany then I have to imagine they still take it. I still don't really understand why the Pac was so insistent on not immediately offering SDSU given how much of a no brainer it is with the access to socal and solid programs in revenue sports.

Colorado is reportedly gone and UO holding some sort of big meeting this week. Adding SDSU isn't going to cut it. I guess shrinking Reser to 35,000 was good foresight...just fine for a Pac-MWC mashup conference.

I guess shrinking Reser to 35,000 was good foresight...just fine for a Pac-MWC mashup conference. Y'know. I looked into this. Both Colorado and Oregon have meetings tomorrow, but they are open meetings. You can hop onto the Oregon meeting at 10 a.m. tomorrow. I believe that the Colorado meeting is at 2 p.m. tomorrow. You can hop on that, too, if you would like. I sincerely doubt that they are going to do anything earthshattering at an open meeting. The more that I think about this, the more that I think that is probably another large Big 12 smear campaign.

No, please.
I'll buy into Friday evenings. But Saturdays are football days. Saturdays are holy.
