Not gonna lie if I was one of the undrafted guys that would piss me off MLB draft tracker doesn’t even show a position - not even TWP like the other 2-way players. I guess QB isn’t allowed on their site?

I guess QB isn’t allowed on their site? The Dodgers drafted him as a pitcher. He would be even more of a project anywhere else. Also Mitchy Slick should sign him up.

obf - left off Sam Whiting, UCSB transfer, 16th round to SD
Also, those aren't $150K Max, that's the max that doesn't impact the teams pools...if they have $ left over, they can over pay the $150k....

Forrester, Wilson, Brown and Kane are almost surely gone Lais is probably gone. REALLY hope we can keep Palmer and DJ $150K is the maximum without dipping into the bonus pool. Teams can pay more than $150K for players drafted after the 10th round. And, just as an aside, the Dodgers are one of four teams that have spent more than their bonus pool every single year and just paid the tax. No team has ever exceeded the 5% cap on the bonus pool, but, for the Dodgers, for example, they have $363,730.00 extra to play with right at the start, because they are willing to pay the tax. So, the Dodgers could realistically pay Uiagelelei $500K without even dipping into the bonus pool and still have money to spare. And they could add on every dollar that they short their first 12 picks. So, the Dodgers could short say Sam Mongelli $150K and run that all to Uiagalelei. To expound upon this, the Dodgers last year had 19 picks and signed 18, signing the first 18 picks, only whiffing on Carter McCulley, who decided to attend Pensacola State. The Dodgers saved $153,810 on their first nine signings and then went over an additional $210,690, so they had $364,500 to slosh around on their last 10 picks. More than three-quarters of that went to Baylor's Kyle Nevin. Almost three-quarters of the rest went to the 18th pick, Cameron Decker. Exactly three-quarters of the rest went to Virginia's Chris Newell, and the final $7.5K went to a 17-year-old. The round 11-20 signing bonus "maximum" increased from $125K to $150K. And the Dodgers have an additional $3,050,800 this year and an additional $153.4K above the bonus pool to play with. Ancient Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times."

D.J. can light up the gun - up to 94mph at St. John Bosco HS in soCal.
The workloads college QB's carry usually prevents them from playing baseball in the spring. Trying to mix in baseball practices and 60 games with competing for the QB position, learning the playbook, film study, position and team meetings, conditioning and spring drills, and attending a few classes might be a tad too much for most dual sport athletes.
Niner wouldn't be thrilled with that situation and he was a pitcher that loves baseball.

Interesting that there is a UDFA maximum. Was that in response to the Reds signing of TJ Friedl back in 2016? Friedl, currently 2nd in WAR for the first place Reds, went undrafted in 2016 when all 30 teams and Friedl himself didn't realize he was draft eligible out of UNR. He was projected at about a 3rd round grade, and the Reds were the only team that had enough $$ under the pool to pull him out of his 3rd college season. www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/17255032/tj-friedl-strange-journey-signing-undrafted-free-agent

MLB removed the UDFA maximum last year. UDFAs can sign for any amount, but any amount above $150K count against your cap. The Reds paid the 75% tax on $605.9K of Friedl's bonus in 2016. So, the teams that did not exceed the bonus pool were able to split an additional $454,425 from the Reds.

Or at least it was somewhere between $334K and $605K.

Or at least it was somewhere between $334K and $605K. Your math is 100% correct, but your assumptions are wrong. The Reds spent $245K over the cap for rounds 11-40. They had $26.6K left, plus the $100K maximum signing bonus for an UDFA. That left them with $126.6K. They signed Friedl for $732.5K, which means that they exceeded their draft pool by $605.9K. They owed 75% to be evenly distributed by teams that did not exceed the draft pool. The Reds had the highest draft pool in MLB in 2016 and were one of basically four teams that could afford Friedl without exceeding the 5% cap. And the Padres and Phillies had already gone over. The Braves were the only other ones that really had a shot, and I do not 100% know what their 2016 draft pool situation actually was.

After the 15th round teams are just buying lottery tickets. Why not take a chance on DJ. Less than 5% make the show.

After the 15th round teams are just buying lottery tickets. Why not take a chance on DJ. Less than 5% make the show. The Dodgers got Mike Piazza in the 62nd Round in 1988, the sixth-to-last player drafted. And wouldn't you know it, DJ was taken with the fifth-to-last pick.
