Down to 300k. Carraway still no call See other thread where Caraway pulled his name out of draft... Oh my! That’s exciting. Guess I’ll go back to work.

Way to go Paul! Good for you! A million bucks is life changing money, and he should definitely sign (assuming the physical checks out). It seems like TJ surgery doesn't scare MLB teams nearly as much as it used to, so even if part of Detroit's investment is to get him the best surgeons possible and help him rehab for a year+, they may be willing to sign him regardless. Go Paul! Go Beavs! A million isn’t really life changing money in this day and age. And he is from Lake Oswego. Having said pitchers do run the risk of getting hurt in college and never getting drafted more than position players. Hey @gotmilk if that million isn't lifechanging for you, can you please send it over to me? Thanks in advance!

Down to 300k. Carraway still no call See other thread where Caraway pulled his name out of draft... I saw the encouraging, Beaver based tweet from Caraway, but... Is it even possible for a player to "pull their name out of the draft"? I expect Caraway to still get drafted, but in a later round as a flyer, just in case the MLB team ends up with extra slot money to try to lure Trent away.

Turley was selected with the 558th pick last year by the Diamondbacks, but the Diamondbacks could not come up with enough money to lure Turley away from Oregon State. At least one team is likely to use a 19th- or 20th-round pick on Caraway and then try to build up enough money to sign him.

Yes, you can officially pull your name out, his tweet is not enough to do that.

We have really lucked out in the draft through 10 rounds. Wilson the only recruit drafted and Forrester the only player drafted. We might be looking at McDowell, Kasper, Kane, Brown, Lawson all coming back and our entire recruiting class making it to campus.

That could put a squeeze on roster spots, but it’s a good problem to have. Some of the guys you listed could end up signing even if picked late and with minimal signing bonus, just because of age and wanting to get on with life! Top of the list is Ryan Brown, who already graduated and turns 23 this fall. Micah is almost the same deal, turning 23 in January. Heck, Joey Mundt may not have an opportunity to sign, but he just turned 24, so wouldn’t surprise if he moves onto any opportunity he gets.

And we lost Dominic Hambley as an 18th round pick for a $200k bonus, so we're not totally out of the woods with some of these guys.

At age 18 it sure as heck is. Teenagers and money. Always works out so well! Paul should take it with his injury history. I highly doubt he gets full slot. I wish him well. I think he’s in for a long haul I don’t know about the player. I do know that kind of money is life changing for an 18 year old. Hence my post.

The big question is where was Caraway seeded…

We shall see. Dang, now THAT is an odd desire... it isn't like Kane is old, still technically a sophomore, he could come back and have a great year and still have the leverage of being a Junior... Just like I would advise Wilson to sign ASAP, I would advise Kane to come back to school. Unless he gets drafted and a team fines at least 200k to sign you and you are a sophomore, come back to school is the easy choice. I understand that college aint for everyone, but it is better than riding buses in the A league for 500 bucks a month, plus being undrafted or a low draft pick puts you at a sizeable disadvantage when it comes to promotion in the org. Even if you have solid to good years you will still mostly be seen as roster filler, and the guy they drafted / paid $$$ for will always get the benefit of the doubt over you, unless you have crazy good stats. With Dernedde in the portal and Forrester drafted high there is plenty of room in the infield for both Kane and Caraway!

It is not a huge amount, but MiLB salaries are not even close to just $500/month. The new agreement assured huge wage increases that can be paid out thru a calendar year and typically only included 6-8 months of contractual time. Players in the complex leagues will go from making a minimum of $4,800 per year to $19,800 a year. The minimum salary for players in Low-A will go from $11,000 to $26,200. High-A salaries will jump from $11,000 to $27,300. Double-A salaries will go from $13,800 to $30,250. In most cases all MiLB players get free housing, which many will share and pocket the difference. The also get a road per diem, used to be $25/day, for food. Home stands typically do not include a per diem, and long bus rides are mostly fiction as most lower level teams are in close proximity. Most upper levels have travel stipulations that travel over (PCL used to be 500) miles mist be done by air. Bottom line, it's far better than a minimum wage, 40+ hour a week gig, and far better than what most college players get while at school. It's a decently paid "internship" for an opportunity to reach a dream for many. I have never heard too many complain unless they realize they've reached their peak and the dream is gone. Then MiLB can become a dreary "job". Like any other job can become.
