Aleah is what was needed for OSU's recruiting. Hunter is a nice gal, but I thought it was telling in an interview with Ron that after he said that Hunter was kind of quiet Brown kinda loudly agreed. To get things started with a recruit you need someone like Aleah. She's definitely a talker and a people person. I watched her in a coffee shop once and she is a very warm, friendly person who loves to bring sunshine into other people's lives. And she knows how to talk basketball! Then why is Hunter on the staff? Now, you have 1 experienced assistant and 2 women just out of college with little coaching experience. It may work, now that you brought Ely back, but he can’t coach on the floor. Surprised that SR wouldn’t want somebody with more experience if he’s comfortable with Hunter being the younger, “relate to the players” coach. Starting July 1 he can: “The Council supported an increase of two coaches in men's and women's basketball. These additional coaches may engage in coaching activities but may not recruit off campus” www.ncaa.com/news/ncaa/article/2023-01-11/ncaa-division-i-council-modernizes-rules-coaching-limits

I would lose all respect for Rueck if he welcomed her back. No thanks. That would seem to indicate you have some respect for SR. I’ve never said he wasn’t a good coach. I’m just not a big fan of him as a person. I do think he’s got to adapt as his program has gotten passed by other programs in the league.

I do think he’s got to adapt as his program has gotten passed by other programs in the league. Some are just starting to figure this out. He is here for as long as he wants to be and on his own terms with his successes or failures, and like it or not he is more or less anointed now.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they had Aleah’s return precooked long before they cut Jenny Huth loose.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they had Aleah’s return precooked long before they cut Jenny Huth loose. Huth was also hired after Aleah was hired at Duke. I remember thinking at the time that we had an opening for Aleah then and could have had her instead of Duke, but chose someone with experience (or it’s possible that she said no then as well). Aleah still doesn’t have much more coaching experience than she did 2 years ago. But if I recall correctly, she has pretty much the same level and type of experience now that Katie F had coming in.

So are we sure that the assistant coach was fired? Maybe she wanted to leave.

Just saw Ron interview Rueck as part of Dam Proud Day, he said that Aleah showed at today's practice. He said they surprised the team earlier, they thought she was just visiting and were told she was the new assistant coach, not sure of the sequence of events there. Obviously the players saw the social media announcement so, not sure what day he told them. Ron mentioned the new 5 players this season and Rueck said "maybe one more, we'll see how things shake out". and, we need 15 more donations as of this moment to get the 100 needed to receive the $15K gift from some WBB supporters. www.damproudday.org/leaderboards?title=athletics

This was from Nick Daschel on March 23rd:
"Oregon State has a women’s basketball assistant coaching vacancy after Jenny Huth left the program earlier this week.
Coach Scott Rueck decided to make a change to his staff after the Beavers completed a 13-17 campaign earlier in March.
Huth was hired during the summer of 2021 to replace Brian Holsinger, who became Montana’s head coach.
'She’s great. I want nothing but the best for her,' Rueck said.
Huth came to Oregon State from Northern Colorado, where she was the head coach from 2018-21. While coaching UNC, the Bears played in the 2019 WNIT."
