I didn't follow it as close as you guys did, but it seemed like every time I did he was going one on one heaving up circus shots and or turning the ball over. So I'm not overly bummed about this news. Just my two cents....

Why go to UNR ? Or UNLV? Over osu… if you don’t like Tinkle, ok…. But as far as $$$, NIL….. doubt those schools have that much to offer. I’m assuming he’s got other offers. Jarod Lucas said he was getting substantially more at Nevada than at Oregon State.

So I'm not overly bummed about this news. Just my two cents.... Taylor was a defensive liability. Still, even a most glass half full view is that he would have been an almost surefire starter and definitely not the worst returning starter. Oregon State can replace Taylor, but I do not really know how off the top of my head. It could be that Taylor did not really fit into Tinkle's defense-first system moving forward. I might buy that. But I have absolutely no information to that effect.

Regarding transfers in, Calloo also contributed on Elite 8 team. Have no idea if he was any part of the issue with the team the next year. Obviously earlier K. Kelly was a transfer in also. Overall, I think the team has is a net negative regarding the portal — but statistically probably by not as much as people think.
Beyond stats though, transfers out hurt with continuity, culture and chemistry. Difficult to build something when key players leave. I didn’t totally love Taylor’s game last year — seemed to drive to hoop too often without a plan hoping to get fouled. Then again, other than Pope I’m not sure the team had much in the way of players who could get their own shot. And he did should nearly double the FTs than second most on team and made them at an 80% clip. He was also only a sophomore playing with a lot of freshmen, so I think he needed to try and exert himself on the offensive end
Wilky mentions that Taylor was a defensive liability. I don’t remember him being atrocious or anything, but can’t say I concentrated on him that much on that end. But they were able to overcome it enough to put up good overall defensive stats. Hate to think what the team would have been like without his offense.
Like Wilky also said, Taylor isn’t irreplaceable. But him leaving is a big hit to the team. Could say Rataj step up and replace Taylor’s numbers? Very possibly, but then who replaces the numbers he put up. And it is not a stretch to think that as only a junior, Taylor’s numbers would have improved further. Just very hard to build something and maintain any kind of momentum when key contributors leave — especially the second leading scorer on a team that struggled offensively. Hopefully WT can find a solution that neither Wilky or I can see at this point.

Not sure why many are concerned with Taylor leaving we have tinkle to save the day.

Not sure why many are concerned with Taylor leaving we have tinkle to save the day. Go to Nevada. Their NIL will pay you $100,000 and it's a better program. OSU NIL won't pay that. Go to San Diego State. Their NIL will pay you a stipend every month, will OSU? To get these kids to come to Corvallis and stay, it's gonna take cash. Why don't you $tep up $peakthetruth?

Funny thing is though that thirty years from now, he’ll remember that Elite Eight run more than the cash he made at Nevada.

I didn’t follow the season very closely for various reasons—not having Pac12 Network being a big reason. But it seemed that Taylor saw a lot of bench time, so obviously he wasn’t turning out to be as great as we anticipated. Maybe it means we won’t need him. Maybe it means he needed out to grow more. Maybe it means he has little left to offer. Maybe it means we aren’t able to bring out a player’s full potential.
I guess we’ll find out.

GT played a lot. Got plenty of shots. I'd guess he finished 2nd to Pope in minutes played and avg ppg, and that may be the problem: GT may have felt overshadowed by Pope. After a great freshman year, GT may have thot he'd be the alpha on the Beaver team going forward. Pope wiped that all away. A Mountain West team could find a starting spot for GT and he could contribute right away.

Rather than giving some nil money to players why not use the nil money plus whatever cash the athletic department has and payoff tinkles contract. Of course there are some maybe even you that think tinkle is the best we can do. But in reality there are many coaches that would take the job and do at least as good a job as a 34% league winning percentage.

People who expect the OSU coach to have a 50% winning % in Pac12 play aren't being realistic at all. You need to rethink that one.

People who expect the OSU coach to have a .500 winning % in Pac12 play aren't being realistic at all. You need to rethink that one. ,500% is doable 50% isn't as easy Currently can't be done at OSU over extended period of time. Not with the pre-existing disadvantages + NIL.

After 7 years at Stanford, Haase is at .450. Get rid of him. Kyle Smith at WSU: .455 Fire him. MIke Hopkins at UW: .455 Terminate him. Mark Fox at Cal: .218. Fired. Tad Boyle, after 13 seasons at CU: .529. Should he be fired? After 8 years at ASU, Bobby Hurley: .483 Get rid of him.
With the exception of WSU, all of these MBB programs have significant advantages over OSU proving the .500 conference record expectation is a non-starter.

As much as some want to malign Craig Robinson as a coach, his overall record at osu was 46.9%. Tinkles overall record is 44.6%. Can we at least find a coach that could outperform Robinson? I'd at least like to try.
