It would be interesting to hear Huth's side of the story as well as Rueck's but neither is going to happen. I think it's pretty safe to say that they didn't always see eye to eye considering Huth is gone after two seasons. I'm just not sure there's enough evidence of underperformance as far as the recruiting to result in a decision to let someone go. Maybe Rueck just didn't like how Huth went about doing her job in that regard. A real key here is that there is no evidence of excellent performance as far as recruiting goes, nor is there evidence of much player development among the players she most likely worked with most closely. Think about player development the last two years and which players did, and which didn't seem to develop the most. Third, the Beavs definitely struggled this year and last, so it seems her game prep and game management skills didn't make much of a difference either. I'm not trying to place all blame on her, because the head coach is ultimately in charge. Unfortunately, most in leadership roles need and count on those under them to help get the job done. I'm not sure anyone on the staff did that this year, but SR felt it was Jenny that needed to go. I'm admittedly in the dark on inside stuff in the program, but I tend to agree with him based on lack of evidence that she excelled at her responsibilities.

Would Eric Ely move into Jenny’s spot?

Would Eric Ely move into Jenny’s spot? Been there, done that. It’s time to look toward the future. Hire a young coach that can relate to our experienced players and is in touch with recruits….and the portal.

Maddie Washington was a leader on the team when she was here and is now coaching at San Diego. Although getting two ex-players on the staff maybe isn't the best choice. Anyone know how the greats do that? ie Geno, Tara, Mulkey etc, do they get people from outside/new blood. Or do they bring on their ex-players?

UCONN for instance has 2 former players as assistants. South Carolina doesn't have any.

Between Maddie and Aleah both with 2 years of experience, I think Rueck has good options. Honestly a coach that is portal savvy is the way to go. We haven’t been great in that area. It’s becoming equally important to HS recruiting.
And both of those two would save the budget by $100k based on what Huth was making.

Goodman is an Oregon girl, so it's very possible that she might prefer to return to the Pacific Northwest...Especially if her family is still in the Portland area. Working with Rueck would help position her well for university jobs in this part of the country..... On the other hand, I don't know how good of a coach or how gifted a recruiter she truly is....Does anyone on this board?
But she sure seems to have the makings to be outstanding at both....
I'd be interested to know if she has much of a desire to return to Corvallis. OSU and Duke are separated by more than geography. A lot more. There are many, many attractions to Duke that are very appealing to a 25, or so, young woman..... GO BEAVS!!

Rueck called Aleah a coach on the floor several times during her career as a Beaver. More importantly, he allowed her to call a majority of the plays when she was playing the point. According to Rueck, even when he called the plays she had the green light to change them. I think she has the makings to be an excellent coach.
As for leaving Duke, I have no idea what that would take. I think it would be better for her coaching career to stay where she is and learn from another coach.

Aleah certainly has an interesting job title at Duke, suggesting she is learning the ins and outs of recruiting without being allowed to officially recruit and playing a role in player development without actually being a coach. Personally, I would love an Aleah hire, but I'm not sure this is the best move for her career at this time.....but maybe it is. If I hear she is the hire, I'd be happy with that move.

She needs to stay at Duke, maybe work into an assistant coach position. Pay her dues in the ACC / east coast. Then when Rueck retires maybe come back to OSU as a head coach.

I have never been to a WBB practice, and attended maybe 2-3 games this last year..but someone please tell me your opinion of Devan H. As a coach i.e., is she interacting with players on the bench, is she adding to the conversation during time-outs? How is her engagement with all the players?

Director of Recruiting and Player Personnel. Sounds to me that she is on the fast track to learn the intricacies of recruiting and managing staff. I'm not sure why you think she is not recruiting? The other part is player personnel not players.
