He's on pace for 25+. If he's under he's gonna get walked alot.

He's on pace for 25+. If he's under he's gonna get walked alot. He's also going to face much better pitching than he has seen so far.

When he hits it's going to be with velocity. Obviously he could start chasing and just strike out swinging like crazy, seen it before. My bet is lots of walks.

Better velocity and better movement can lead to weaker contact.

Over. And that assumes he gets pitched around a lot as well.

Most home runs are off mistakes, save for the one Gavin down the right field line at Goss. With the bat speed he can generate, he has the advantage that when he gets a mistake it will go along way. Might come down to whether there is enough protection in the lineup to make people have to pitch to him

Maybe this poll should have happened after a couple weekends of PAC-11 Play. I am sure the quality of pitchers will be better. Believe me, I hope I am wrong.

Melton was on a similar pace last year and finished with 17. Over. Maybe way over.

Better velocity and better movement can lead to weaker contact. Not every strike. He has high bat speed, that means more momentum. More momentum = more energy off any contact. Ofc he's going to have dribblers, fouls, fly balls and whatever else. The bat speed he generates just makes a higher possibility of a higher energy result. Guerra is in the same boat, when he is getting good contact it's often extra base hits due to the exit velocity adding lift or making it hard for defenders to chase down.

Over, the team as a whole are jacking more HRs this year. If you walk him, then there is a guy on base with another HR hitter coming after him. Plus, his speed on the base paths is another deterrent for walking him.

I just expect a drop off in conference play. Hope I'm wrong. But hey, I was wrong about McDowell. He showed no signs in the past two years of ever being competitive at the plate. He evidently figured out something in the off season. I hope he keeps it up. He's by far the biggest surprise so far.
