Sounds as if Ferrer got good news last week...Dorman quote"Good to go as tolerated" . Really likes the make up of Keljo. 94-95 mph fastball from the left side and a nasty attitude towards the opponent it sounds. I am paraphrasing, but I like hearing he has that competive side. Mundt is close too.

Our starters may be overmatched once conference play starts. I wish we had a lefty starter and another 1-2 in the pen. Really hope these freshmen pop. This is setting up like 2016 to me, although I see a better team than we had in 2016. Next year's team has major Omaha potential.

My biggest concern is our young position players, or guys like McDowell, Kasper, who have turned a corner, regressing at the plate. That may be the difference.....if we can get consistent run support, our staff might be deep enough.....be nice if Hunter can get back on track.

Next year's team has major Omaha potential. Based upon what I've read and heard about Sellers, I think we'll be fine with Fridays. Kmatz starting on Saturday is perfect. So that leaves Sunday, and we know that Hunter has been struggling, but when he is on, he is good. Lattery has been effective in his outings. And Brown as the closer. Getting Ferrer back gives us an excellent, tried and true, pitcher. Mundt will be getting time midweek to get back up to form and then may challenge for serious series time. The continued weakness of our staff is in the lack of lefties. Thorsteinsen, Keljo, and Mejia. 2 are true freshmen. I expect them to get a fair amount of work to build them into regular relief pitchers, and Keljo seems to have risen for the task. We'll see. But getting back Ferrer soon and Mundt will help a lot. BUT without a doubt, I completely agree that things are looking very bright for the future of Beaver Baseball.

He should have been a mid-week guy last year, and haven't seen much of an improvement yet so far this year. If he was our Sunday guy, I would feel better

I feel fine with Sundays being Hunter for 3-5 IP, Ferrer for 1-3 IP, Hutch for 1-2 IP, Keljo for 1 IP and Brown to close it out...
But we aren't going to have the K's before we've had in the past, going to be interesting for sure

I'll defer to the coaches

I think lock down stud aces are hard to come by, and we have had quite a few in the last 5 or 6 years. If you don't have the offense to back it up, it doesn't matter.
This offense is looking very legit, with good team speed. Maybe we don't have a Hjerpe, or a Wetzler, or a Heimlich, but the Pitching staff will be plenty enough to compete.

He definitely fell off at the end when he got tired. I'm excited to see how the off season adjustments and work own out.

He averaged less than 5 innings per start. His longest start was 6.1 innings. I would like my Saturday guy to average closer to 6 innings. With the occasional 7 + game.

We have to keep them healthy. If he’s averaging 6 innings, then he needs a fair number of starts going to the 7 inning mark or above. I’d rather see our starters go to 5+ - 6 innings and be done, unless they are just mowing them down. And the jury’s still out on whether we have a guy who can do that.
