Current Standings:
1. UCLA 16-2 Arizona State, & Arizona 2. Arizona 13-5 @ USC & @ UCLA 3. USC 13-5 Arizona & Arizona State 4. Arizona State 11-7 @ UCLA & @ USC 5. Oregon 10-8 California & Stanford 6. Utah 10-9 @ Colorado 7. Wazzu 10-9 @ Washington 8. Washington 8-11 @ Stanford & Washington State 9. Colorado 7-12 UCLA & Utah 10. Stanford 6-12 Washington, @ Oregon State, & @ Oregon 11. Oregon State 4-14 Stanford & California 12. California 2-16 @ Oregon & @ Oregon State
The #1 and #12 seeds are locked in, but there is some give to seeds #2-#11.
Oregon State can finish 10th or 11th. The Cardinal are currently up currently are two games up and hold the tiebreaker currently with the Beavs.
Stanford clinches at least the 10-seed by winning at least once OR California beating Oregon State.
Oregon State wins the tiebreaker with Stanford, if Oregon State wins twice AND Oregon beats Stanford AND USC finishes ahead of Arizona in the standings. Otherwise, the Cardinal win the tiebreaker. This presents an interesting scenario wherein, if Oregon State finishes tenth in conference, they will be paired with USC as the the #2 seed with only the #7 seed up in the air.
As Oregon State will finish 10th or 11th, the most important spots are the 6th and 7th spot. The 6th is currently held down by Utah, and the 7th is currently held down by Wazzu. Utah holds all tiebreakers with Wazzu. The current projections are Utah and Wazzu losing the road finales to finish 10-10 and staying put in the order. But you can work out scenarios to put those five teams into the 6th or 7th.
But Arizona State, Oregon, Utah, and Wazzu are all able to finish sixth or seventh. Does anyone have a desired opponent?
With the close Civil War game, Oregon might be a good opponent to play. Oregon State's last win in the octofinals was against Utah back in 2020, the day before the lockdowns started up. The last win before that among these four teams was Arizona State back in 2016, which is the last year that Oregon State received a Tournament invite off the bubble. Oregon State's last win before that was back in 2012 over Wazzu.
Once again, because Oregon State will finish 10th or 11th, the 2nd and 3rd seeds are the most important. Arizona holds all tiebreakers with USC, but USC can pass Arizona in the standings into second with two wins or two Wildcat losses. Arizona State can pass USC, if the Devils win out and the Trojans lose out. But Arizona just clinched all tiebreakers over Arizona State with Stanford's win over Washington.
So, Arizona, Arizona, and USC are all able to finish second or third. Does anyone have a desired opponent?
Based upon results, USC seems like an obvious choice. Oregon State always seems to have real problems with Arizona in the conference tournament and Arizona State is almost as bad.

We're gonna have a big challenge no matter who we face. We're better in Gill and our team can struggles away from home. With that said, I prefer to face USC. If we hit our 3's (like we did last night against the ducks), we can beat USC.

Who cares about seeds? We're peaking I tell ya... Just in time for a little post regular season win streak:) I think that the hope is to play USC in the quarters, because they seem the easiest to pick off of the current top four, unless we can count on Hurley imploding. I was mostly trying to see, if anyone had a team that they wanted or did not want to play first.

I should never try to post stuff so late. I got Colorado and Utah mixed up in my head, and then everything was wrong after that. Still, race for the #6 seed: If Arizona State wins, Wazzu is #6. If USC wins, Arizona State is #6. So, Arizona State or Wazzu? The #5 and #6 seeds are the only seeds left to be decided. The field will be: #1 UCLA #2 Arizona #3 USC #4 Oregon #5 Arizona State or Wazzu #6 Arizona State or Wazzu #7 Utah #8 Washington #9 Colorado #10 Stanford #11 Oregon State #12 California
Oregon State will play Arizona State or Wazzu and then USC. If the Beavers win that, Oregon State plays the winner of the Arizona-Utah-Stanford pod. The other pods will be the UCLA-Washington-Colorado pod and the Oregon and California and Arizona State or Wazzu pods. The winner of those two pods would play Oregon State in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
The only time that Oregon State won the Pac-12 Championship Game was 2021. And Oregon State beat UCLA, Oregon, and Colorado. Those three teams are on the other side of the bracket. The Beavers could only play one of them.

USC 68 - Arizona State 65 I hope that everyone likes 8:30 p.m. PST starts, because the games on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are each scheduled to start at that time. Oregon State plays Arizona State on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. PST. The winner plays USC on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. PST. The winner plays the winner of the Arizona v. Stanford/Utah game in the semifinals on Friday at 8:30 p.m. PST. The other semifinal will be the winners of the UCLA v. Colorado/Washington and Oregon v. California/Wazzu games. The winner of the other semifinal would play Oregon State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. PST. Oregon State is undefeated against Arizona State in the First Round of the Pac-12 Tournament. #8 Oregon State beat #9 Arizona State 71-68 in 2006 and #6 Oregon State beat #11 Oregon State 75-66 in 2016. The win in 2016 basically clinched the Beavers a Tourney berth. Oregon State and USC have only met once in the Tourney, in the quarterfinals back in 2018. #2 USC beat #10 Oregon State 61-48. Does anyone have any thoughts on Stanford v. Utah?

The chances are slim that OSU wins any games in the PAC 12 Tournament. Not saying OSU will win but at least they got a draw against teams I could see them beating.
OSU had 16 pt 1st Half lead vs ASU in first game they played this season and was up 4 at HT in the game at Tempe. Just couldn't pull either game out. They had a 11 pt HT lead in first game at USC but couldn't hold on and beat USC the 2nd game in Corvallis.

I’m not expecting another epic run, but a win or two would go a long way to building for next year for this young group

Like most of the games this year, if we can hit our 3's and play good defense, we can beat ASU. Not sure what happened last 3 games with Beavs: Ducks, Cardinal and Bears all shot lights out and put us in bad spots. We almost beat the ducks, got run by Stanford and made a great comeback v Cal. That said, ASU has some talented kids, esp the Cambridge Bros. Should be fun. Guessing spread will be 8 pts.

But they got to the line six more times and converted two more free throws. And that was the difference in the ballgame. Oregon State beat Oregon in almost every major statistic except blocks (2-1) and free throws. That was a game, where a different set of zebras probably creates an entirely different result.

What I want to know is... who's our likely first round opponent in the big tourney after we win the next 4 games?
