What's interesting is peoples insistence on being allowed to say anything they feel like, any time they feel like it, and getting grumpy when others call them out on it. What has been great about Jelena's conditioning is that she can now go 38 minutes in a game and not be winded. I couldn't care less how much she weighs. And yes, I wouldn't/don't say anything about men or women's weight, because it's irrelevant. I only care whether they can run the court for as long as the team needs them to do it. Anything else is nonsense. And being strong enough to get and keep rebounds. I would add that Mit does have plenty of strength as a post. I don't think that narrative that some have pushed that she loses the ball after rebounds or has trouble unless she keeps the ball high is due to a lack of strength. I think it's much more about Mit's overall athletlic ability. There's just a few posts than come through every couple of years that have very good to great athletic ability combined with the 6-7 to 6-9 type of height. Those are players you can build title teams around. Most players who are in that height range are very limited or complete projects. I think Mit is somewhat unusual in that she fits between those two extremes but leans toward the very good level of athleticism in that she has enough timing, etc. to block shots consistently and is also able to shoot with good touch and grab rebounds. Having said that, she still has a certain level of awkwardness due to her height that sometimes causes her problems against smaller, quicker opponents. Lack of leverage also factors in quite a bit and I think often seems like a lack of strength.

That would take a lot of strength and great leverage, ha ha. But yeah, she doesn't lack strength to play post

But yeah, she doesn't lack strength to play post .she often seems to lack stre gth in her hands as she loses way too many balls that she has grabbed, only to fumble it, or drop it, or have slapped away. If I would criticize anything it would her "weak" hands

If I would criticize anything it would her "weak" hands Yeah, maybe...I have seen her just lose the handle for apparently no reason. But I think most of the time it's a matter of her being pestered by shorter, quicker players slapping and grabbing at the ball. Again, they have the leverage on a 6-9 player with long arms. And keeping the ball up high after a rebound is a technique issue, not a strength issue.

As always, excellent observations and perceptive deductions from the information!
I really hope Jelena returns next year. If she is offered a lucrative pro-contract in Europe she certainly should go now.
However, I think that by staying, if she continues her gradual but steady improvement her chances of a professional career in Europe will be much greater than they currently are.
Go Beavs!

I hope she returns as well...it's not easy to find good posts and she adds a lot to the Beavers

What is, I believe, often overlooked is the large impact defensively that she has due to her presence in the basket area.
Along with blocked shots, she causes hurried shots, also so many times opposing players won't drive to the basket knowing that she is there.
Go Beavs!
