My hope of hope is that Martha can get it done next year. She's pretty good at the offensive end, but due to her height she has to be really good at the defensive end. Guards with more length can still get a hand in the way after messing up coverage, shorties can't. So she has to be just that much better, and I'm hopeful from what I've seen that she can make up that difference. beaveragain,
Another 5 star observation on your part!
So given the high probability that this year's team is not going to make the NCAA or even the NIT, and that SR is unlikely to obtain a quality point guard in the transfer portal- would it not be wise to play Martha very significant minutes in whatever remaining games the team has?

Hunter's 6.6 APG ranked first at Nike Nationals, and there were a lot of really good point guards there. I was impressed by the way she always kept her head up and seemed to make the right pass to the open player. Very unselfish. Seems to have solid quickness and handles as well. By the end of the summer she was looking like the player she was anticipated to be early on in her career.
I think Shuler may have picked up a few Power Five offers later in the summer had she not committed to OSU. Thought she had a pretty good July and ended up being ranked in the 100-125 range by a few of the scouting services. You never know who is going to be a Kneepkens-type player (not ranked in top-100, not heavily recruited, but comes in and makes an immediate impact).

Training for basketball isn't exactly my area of expertise. But from what I heard/read from coaches and great players (Kobe comes to mind) is that you don't learn how to play during games. You learn how to do it in practice and then figure out how to use what you learned in games. So getting Martha into games is good for her to see what she needs to work on, but not useful for training purposes. Again, from others who I would guess know what they are talking about. Geno gets a lot of grief from UConn fans because they want him to play rookies and he won't do it unless he thinks they can provide something of value to the game.

Thank you for your enlightening and informative response. I have determined that "my area of expertise" is making incorrect predictions about what will happen (wins/losses/player development/etc./etc) with the OSU WBB program!(grin).

Thank you for the concise and illuminating information about Ms. Hunter. How tall is she? Are there any video clips available? It would be outstanding if she proved to be "game ready" in her freshman year.

Again Sky---as with Kennedie Shuler---all the info about D. Hunter is in the Recruiting thread titled: "Donovyn Hunter commits to OSU"----stats-game video clips-national ranking-personal info-etc.
