There is no reason to play any players other than freshmen and sophomores rest of the season. They need as much experience together as we can get them before next season. Thank goodness we have some ball handlers coming in next year. I hope you are right and both new frosh next year can play the point: They both will need to be good ball handlers, quick, with good defensive hands, 3 point shooters, and pass well to the bigs. This is huge skill set though to expect from Freshman. So, does this make next year, like this year, another building year? I am afraid so.

That's the skill set most above average point guards have nowadays. We are all too acquainted with PGs that don't have that complete skill set.

This is as slow, and disorganized an OSU team that I've seen since Rueck has been here. I'm trying to cut him some slack as Covid, and all the portaling really did a number on his roster. This is now definitely a rebuilding year, and really always was going to be.
Time to play the young guns and build for the future. Blacklock and Hansford both look like they can play. Marotte has a high ceiling. TVO needs to continue to get faster, stronger, better. Emphasis on faster. She has regressed since her first year, and a lot of it looks mental. She is pressing because too much is being asked of her, and hasn't developed enough game to fill that role. Yeany looks like a player who is playing with a heavy heart, and is inconsistent. Aaron shows promise, but is only here 1 more year, and is also inconsistent.
Need to find a back court to match this front court by next season, and then I think OSU WBB is back to it's usual level of play. Really need a true PG who can play at this level. Two would be better. Currently not on this roster.
But more than anything, everyone looks like they are out of synch with each other. It's why we seem to be on the wrong spots on the floor, dribbling into nowhere, and are getting killed on the boards. So much of this is mental. I noticed at one point in the Utah game a 3 went up, and our entire team was watching the shot fly through the air, while their players were busy hustling for rebounding position. And of course, they came away with the RB. That is an entire team problem, and super basic BB too. This team can find another gear if they choose to. It's too late for this season, but it has to start sometime. Start playing for next year at this point. Whether that is developing young players, or adjusting mental attitudes doesn't matter, so long as they find a way to play a better, faster, more cohesive, and more physical brand of basketball.

At least Beers was able to stay on the court. Played 33 minutes and had 8 points and 10 rebounds. Mannen played 25 minutes against one of the quickest teams in the Pac-12. She had no points, three fouls, a turnover and one assist. Just saying. Mannen is a good defender but her offense is surely lacking. Teams are not going to fear her. Talia is too up and down and cannot handle quick guards to get open. Jelena is too slow to guard bigs who can also shoot the 3. She is just not athletic enough. Better hope next year's 2 new frosh have tons of skills (as i listed in my other post). Beavers also need another big (quick athletic big) and a true point guard from the portal for next year as well.

The vast majority of the offensive problems would be alleviated with a good point guard. Hopefully the Beavers have one (or two) coming. TVO is never going to get faster. She is what she is athletically. Strong with middling speed and quickness. She's basically a tweener and I think that's really hit home this season. IMO her big splash when she arrived at OSU had fans overrating how good she really is. And if she's not hitting shots, she really doesn't add enough to make a significant impact.

Her impact is significantly lessened against teams like Utah and particularly Colorado with all the speed and quickness they bring to the court. She'll still give you a lot of effort, but sometimes that's just not enough at this level. I think she's earned a legitimate spot as a player, but I see her as a role player who should be playing 5-10 minutes in most games. Rueck sees her as a starter who should be playing 25 minutes a game.

Yes, for heaven's sake play the freshmen. This season is lost. Actually, it has been lost.

I think she’s really good as a second option and when playing with guards who can take some pressure off of her. Goforth and Goodman were vastly better than any guard she’s played with the past two seasons. She struggles to create against good defenders (USC and Colorado come to mind), she’s the major focus for opponent’s defenses, and we don’t really have anyone who can consistently create open looks for her. Ideally (1) her nagging injury is corrected in the offseason, (2) she comes back, and (3) Rueck finds a good PG to pair her with.

I would appreciate it if one of you fine folk would please send me the link to SR's post game press conference.
To say the least, I am very curious as to how it tries to rationalize this game!
Thank you.

TVO could definitely improve her straight line speed. I think where she needs to "get faster" the most is in between her ears. She is over-thinking herself. Passing up open shots, and trying moves that aren't really part of her game. She has also seemed to lose a lot of poise around the hoop, and I can't figure out why. She was able to absorb contact and make shots on the drive. Now it seems she is being denied or giving up too easily on drives to the hoop. All of it seems mental to me for the most part. Honestly, if we had the guard play to do it I would put TVO at the 3, where she would be fast for the position, and wouldn't be required to instigate the offense AND get position on her defender with a move or two. She could also more easily crash the O boards without worrying about having to get back to guard their backcourt.

Shocked that the announcers, and maybe few here, did not notice we had all 5 freshman in together, and it wasn't horrible ! m On the flop side of that was that into the second half only one starter had scored the hole game

I do like that he's getting more playing time for Blacklock and Hansford. Really paying off for Blacklock especially. How iconic since he was playing Hansford and AJ ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY DURING THE OFF SEASON. Then he stopped. Lessor with blaylock. The question becomes why did he stop until now.

Shocked that the announcers, and maybe few here, did not notice we had all 5 freshman in together, and it wasn't horrible ! I noticed immediately. The frosh held their own; Martha knows NOT TO PICK UP THE DRIBBLE unless she is passing or shooting. Beers and Gardiner are the real deal. Timea is what we were supposed to get with Kennedy and a whole lot more. Timea CAN shoot 3s, she CAN create her own shot and she can catch and shoot. She is the 2nd coming of Satou Sabalie only she is on the Beavs

The entire team, particularly the guard core needs to get faster and quicker through training during the off season. Mitrovic needs to get in the gym and build her upper body strength--what good is 6'9" if you cannot use your body to get off a clean shot in the paint? Our kids should be in good enough shape to press full court. Utah & Colorado players seem to be much more fit than OSU players (minus Bendu & Martha). I liked the idea promoted by beavheart that TvO would be more effective at the 3. But that means we need PGs and others who can play the 2. Goal is to now keep all 5 freshmen, TvO and AJ encouraged enough to stay with OSU next season. I think the more minutes they get from this point forward will help. How about starting Q1 in our next game with only freshmen & sophomores.
